I understand she has plenty of vegatation, but im saying that maybe she doesnt want to go lower in the cage to get to the shade. Maybe she wants to keep the height and get away from the lights, I guess iff all else fails just add another light!
Possibly she is trying to get to a cooler area of the cage while still maintaining the security by height. I notice a lot of cages offer cooler temps but only at lower levels in the cage. Another possibility is she is trying to get away from the mega red star of lights above her? Sure she could...
He looks rather healthy, he is shedding and looks like he just got a new man castle also? Could be just settling in and shedding. Prob fixed the problem now he is just getting adjusted!
When I spray he does the o'l lick and gulp or just thing move that looks like he swallowing air but the only method he uses for the dripper is the tong shot! Its funny because ill be watching tv and all of a sudden feel drops of water hit my face and ill know its just my buddy shooting water...
My guy does the exact same thing, except it seems to work with any color glove, so it def could be the color thing since you said he does good with blue shirts and bottles. It mag be that mine just rather be handled with something other than human contact. I dont see any problem with you...
If she looks like she had eggs a couple weeks ago she probably most def needs a laying bin as fast as possible by now I think is what she was trying to say. Those eggs arent going anywhere most likely without a proper setup. Without one your chameleon could be headed to very dangerous waters...
I would not recommend trying that, he may be able to "live" in one of those, but then again so could you in a closet if someone brought u food and water. I think it would make for a sad and possibly sick cham pretty quickly! I would not do it if I were in your position.
Yea those second pictures look more like female markings than the first two but i cant be sure without looking at the back. I think you are on the right path with the calcium with and without D3 now. However, you said you are not gutloading and this can be a very slipper slope especially when...
I just read your other post and it looks like your vet has u on a pretty skewed supplement schedule. Unless there is a special situation your guy needs that requires less calcium than your vet has ur guy on to little calcium. I definatly think he needs more calcium and most if not all these...
Man you have came to probably one of the best online communities for chameleons around! Tons of info can be found on here that is accurate for the most part. The best way to learn is to get in here, read, become active, and engage yourself. I started out doing research on here but quickly found...
Yea it could be a number of things at this point, I would still get him to a vet as quick as possible. You said he is deficient with Vitamin A? I noticed you are using basically flukers gel as a gutload to your crickets. It goes a long way towards keeping a healthy chameleon if you are able to...
Yea sounds pretty typical for the handful of shows i have been to. Haven't been to very many personally, but it seems like at each one i saw at least one thing that was wrong In my opinion. I just chalk it up to the vendors having many adults with limited space for the show and only have them...
My 1 1/2 yr old male did this the other night. Except, he fell asleep upside down like that. I was trying to figure out why he did this and remembered that i had let him out a little bit before bed time so my niece and nephew could see him. During this time my baby niece got really excited and...
what about a jackson? although it is another pretty common species, I am becoming more and more interested in owning one myself. I like the variation in husbandry from what i own as a veiled and am looking forward to the "challenge" of something a bit different. Also they aren't to crazy with...
Its hard to tell if he was sick before you got him or not, but as you can see there are a few things you were doing that needed to be corrected. The heat on his basking spot was very hot. 100 degrees it terribly hot for a panther especially a baby one. If i remember correctly i think they need a...
Thats what most have found to be true as well! sometimes it can turn into a few minutes real quick if he is real thirsty lol! Sometimes i like doing it by hand , makes me feel like I'm able to interact a bit more. I know its probably not the case but it can be a good feeling. Of course there are...
My guy has done that a time or two (well i may have only seen him a time or two), but he has done it before shedding. I think it helps him sort of break the skin so it may shed easier or something. The opening may help start the shed around his head and puffing up may help stretch the body to...
This is true, im sure they can find protection better out there than in their cage. I was just trying to support the findings of what people have found to be true and what people have used as a general rule or guidance for their pet chameleons. Like i have said i don't own a mister but do people...
I am by no means an expert i could be wrong, but most of the experienced keepers stories and advice i have heard state that water needs to be given at decent intervals each time to stimulate drinking. I would like to think that babies in a Madagascar like jungle would be able to handle more than...
Its good to give it those intervals of dry time, 20 seconds of spray may work for you, but I have found that with a lot of chameleons you need to stimulate them to get them to start drinking. A lot of people like Carol say that you need to spray them for at least a minute or two before they...
