The High Prices of The New Madagascar Quotas Chameleon Species?

That could very well be but I was also told that quotas are now somewhat tied to their IUCN status, which lists F.petteri as "vulnerable" but F.wilsii as "least concern" thus granting them a higher quota despite their actual numbers in the wild. I'm not an expert on their status in the field so...

The High Prices of The New Madagascar Quotas Chameleon Species?

What's interesting about the willsi/petteri situation is their quota numbers are sort of reversed. I've heard first hand accounts that willsi are so much more rare than petteri in the wild yet the quotas are so skewed it's not even funny. I've heard of people finding dozens of F.petteri for...

The High Prices of The New Madagascar Quotas Chameleon Species?

I took some time to read through a bit of this thread and having a decent amount of experience in dealing with Malagasy imports I feel I have some insight into this. I do apologize if this perspective is redundant. Admittedly I didn't have time to read the entire thread. :-/ We act like we...

    For Sale: Calumma gastrotaenia

Hey Everyone! One of the newest species to be exporter from Madagascar, Calumma gastrotaenia is a rare and charming addition to anyone's collection. Males barely reach 4" SVL with females being slightly smaller, this small species prefers habitats closer to that of montane species of...

    Calumma nasutum

Well, it's a little cold for them to be outside so we have them in our workshop along with the Uroplatus and T.deremensis. So far they appear to be doing well! In all honesty, they're so small I would be nervous about housing them outside. Maybe some of the larger Calumma species can be housed...

    Calumma nasutum

A few updated images. So far the group seems to be doing well. They're hungry little buggers that seem to like to eat throughout the day. So far we've been feeding them Hydei and 2 week old crickets. They really get excited for the flies but take the crickets without too much hesitation...

    Calumma nasutum

I didn't mean to sounds curt either, I was just expressing our take on it. But I agree with your statement whole heartedly. Anyone truly interested in these species should wait until we (the royal we, not just me of course!) figure them out first. The cost of the animal is just the beginning but...

    Calumma nasutum

From the limited information that I was able to dig up, it did suggest the incubation was around 90 days, which is very much in line with the Uroplatus and T.deremensis we already focus on. It appears that we have at least 2 females that may be gravid and they're both doing seemingly well. They...

    Calumma nasutum

Thanks again everyone! Jeremy, As much as I'd love to acquire CB's C.nasutum, these are some of the first to arrive to the US in many years so hopefully and with a little bit of luck, we can see some eggs from these initial imports and start the captive population going. From what I've heard...

    Calumma nasutum

Thanks! Right now the temps are a little lower than usual, hovering around 70-72 during the day. I did provide one of the three cages we have them in (Dragon Strand Compact Cage System) with a warm spot and it appears that only the seemingly gravid females were interested in basking. I'm...

    Calumma nasutum

I figured I would start a separate thread to keep the images all in order. We were very fortunate to acquire a group of Calumma nasutum. I'm really smitten by this species and hope they do well for us. :) Cheers!

    Parsonii and Oshaughnessyi

Unfortunately not this time but I know they were promising first pick of the females when the next shipment came in. The males both looked to be in great shape and boy did they have an appetite!

    Parsonii and Oshaughnessyi

As far as I know both males are still available. They're absolutely stunning but I just couldn't afford everything I wanted!

    Parsonii and Oshaughnessyi

The C.malthe were a very reasonable size. About the size of a quadricornis but a bit more slender. :)

    Parsonii and Oshaughnessyi

I find it funny the common name for C.nasuta is "Big Nose Chameleon" when there is absolutely nothing big about them! They're at most 2-2.5" SVL with a long tail.

    FS - Ambanja Male

Hey All! We have this beautiful Ambanja male available and I wanted to see if any of the good folks here on the forums would be interested. :) We acquired him from The Chameleon Company in April but have decided to downsize and focus on other species for a little while. He's been raised in...

    Uroplatus phantasticus eggs

Are you sure you have U.phantasticus? For a hatchling to not have a tail is very strange. Just from the pics it appears you have U.sp.nov.aff.ebenaui (what everyone thinks is ebenaui in the US). Check out my signature for a link to the UIC for more info. :) Stunning little geckos regardless...

    New reptile room

A few key things to remember when designing your reptile room... See if you can have access to water. IE, from the tap, connected to a filter then into your holding container. This will alleviate a good deal of manual labor and give you easy access to one of the most important factors to...
