I cup feed mostly, but have left crickets loose in there for far far longer than this forum would approve. That was before I heard that crickets are dangerous to leave in there. I put in a little feeding station with bug burger for them.
Somewhere online I saw a recommendation to not use...
Vlad, I have to say that for your (apparent) age, you have a really good view of it. Do it right, realize its costly, and appreciate what your 'rents are doing for you.
The good part is that once you get the basics, you really don't have to do it often. The vitamins for instance will last...
Dear MyCham...I sympathize with you 100% I have a chameleon with exactly the same issue.
So far the best weeks she's had have been when she receives NO D3 via nutrition. She still has her UVB light, and appears to be getting plenty of it that way.
I have been doing 6 days with Ca without...
My juvenile veiled gets phoenix worms. She usually freaks out (in a good way) for new things, then rethinks and won't eat them for a while. I'm having good luck with crickets+phoenix+dubia.
I like not having to feed or house the phoenixes. I honestly don't know how many med or small worms...
Shayna did not do well yesterday. I rescued her from the floor of the cage at least 4 times. I checked on her hourly, and if she was okay I simply left the room.
I'm going to try a whole month with no multivitamin.
This morning she was doing okay, all four feet on the branch.
Spouse...
I raised the enclosure up onto an inexpensive wire rack. It will drain through to a tray on the table beneath it. Around the cage on two sides I've draped a mottled brown/green/beige print cloth to keep the birds from worrying the cham.
On the top rack I put the lights, dripper and...
I actually heard her take the fall this time, ran downstairs and found her with both forelegs pinned, laying on the floor. She's grabbed herself a few time too.
Maybe the whole thing is a growing pains sort of thing
Got a weight on her: 43g she is a pudgey thing.
Supplemented with Ca+ D3 on 4 crickets
Received phoenix worms, they're a hit
Moderately good movement. Had to rescue her half a dozen times this week.
Did some major reoutfitting of her environment, removing bottom of cage, raising the cage onto a wire storage type table, so a tray can go...
LMAO! I got a few 'beetles' and my veiled ate a few. Gave back the rest to the local rep store in trade for the more appealing crickets. Weeks and weeks later (this past week, as a matter of fact) I removed the base of the cage (a sheet of plastic laminate overlayed with a slab of cork) to...
Great question! I was thinking that my poor Shayna was really overacting. She leans and sways and squinches her eyes shut. She seems a bit smug when she's hidden in the middle of her ficus and I can't get her wet.
I'm getting a Monsoon for her. I'm tired of being the bad guy with the mist...
Nope, they're not fed, but they have the nutrition wrapped up anyway. I dust every other week or so with multivitamin, and she has other things for snacks and change. But they ARE a nonmobile primary staple food for chams according to more people that I've contacted too.
Right now a 100watt incandescent until I can get a pack of 40's
I replaced my 'red' heat bulb which is simply a standard bulb with red glass when I decided I didn't like the color shift in the cage. I really wanted white light.
Submitted for your approval,
Tyg
Shayna is doing very well right now. For two days she's been very consistent in her improvement. She was fed 10 phoenix worms and about as many crickets dusted with multivit
Trying to concentrate now on fixing drainage. Hope to get a Monsoon set up for the holidays.
I wonder how much...
