I never even thought it would be read that way. I was not teasing or misleading, just reporting what I asked and that she actually SAW a cham in the wild! too excited to reread for clarity. She also bagged (photo-bagged) a lilac breasted roller that is jaw-droppingly beautiful.
I highly...
LMAO! of course its just a picture! I'm going to try to get a copy of the original pic to post...Its lovely in that thorn bush, its tail all curled up.
My sister had the great good fortune to be teaching a 2 week class in South Africa (courtesy of the Rotarians!). After the class she took a 3 day safari at Mosetlha Bush Camp, and I asked her to find me a cham.
She did!!

Tons of good ideas there. Thanks. Hydroballs appear to be the low-tech go-to solution for all your humidity woes. Cricket water gel...that's easy enough and very inexpensive.
So cold air humidifier is the current considered the 'healthy' humidifier? Last I looked (admittedly some 20 years...
In the 'front room' where two birds and two reptiles cohabitate (with privacy screens for the faint of heart of all involved) I have nearly a dozen plants ranging from ferns to ficus, pothos to philodendron most with water in their catch trays; a soaked towel on the lowheat oil radiator; catch...
Oh yes! that is clever, well designed and downright pretty! Its given me a workable idea for Shayna's (much more modest!) enclosure.
I do agree that if it were my cham I'd want more sturdy branches to complement the vines (how long does it take to grow a pothos that big?).
Kudos!

Okay...points noted (I also realized that a good portion of my crickets come from a bigbox store). Fecal will be brought to vet this week. I so don't want to have to freak him out with daily handling to medicate.

I feel silly just typing that.
Shayna eats primarily crickets with some Phoenix worms. Her poo is pretty hard and solid, very dark, with a fairly solid white urate. I've considered this normal.
Mort eats primarily superworms so far (with occasional crickets). His poo is moist, soft...
Glad Elly is maintaining! How does she take the lactulose? In my experience, birds take readily to lactulose because it is so sweet, so dosing is rarely a problem. Do you use a curve tip syringe at the corner of her mouth, or a cricket?
I'm curious because I'm fully capable of dosing...
Oh yeah, and trust me, its as bad with birds but adding in a reptile....
No candles, no scents, no sprays. We're sorta like those multiple allergy folk who use nothing but 'natural' products. Two products we've gone a bit wild for are a UV sterilizing wand, and a medical product called...
Just wondering, how large is your cage? A pic would be handy. If the little guy is exploring, he may need more room, more branches, etc.

you can even make one if you must by lining a box with styrofoam pieces. But really no worries for a quick trip. Warm the car, pop him in a prewarmed box, wrap box in a blanket, put blanket and box and cham in car.
Congrats on the new digs!
I just saw this thread (sick for a day and couldn't get to the computer) and laughed myself silly, knowing the pictures that were going to be offered.
Shayna bit me once when she was about 30g, and I sort of laughed at her. Then I saw the pics and decided that I should be a little less...
When really good photographers get a pic of their cham with the tails all coiled, you can be sure they used clothes pins and sealing wax.
Not to be taken seriously,

He is sooo different from Shayna Maideleh. Mort has moved in, and he has shown me all the grace and strength of a healthy chameleon. He is to be Shayna's role model, except of course there is a modesty screen between them.
Adult male veiled chameleon.
She is all leaf, and he is 100%...
