I have 4 rudis at the moment. My experience so far (after about 5 months of keeping them) that they seem to be very sensitive to stress. Once in their home and settled they are ok but I have lost a couple in the first couple of weeks of moving them. Once they've decided they are going to die...
May I ask if you've tried rudis in exo terras?? No specific reason as mine are very happy intheir screen cages, just interested.
In the UK, I've seen some similar style glass terrariums for sale, ostentaciously designed for water dragons I believe, by a different manufacturer. Can't for the...
Burying the eggs - annoyed at the disturbance:
The end result of her hard work:
digging them up - first sight
I prepared 2 tubs of vermiculite to receive them
Ooopsie - found more!
Final tally:
All looking good
And the girl herself afterwards -...
I get paranoid if my temps go above 79-80, esp for the babies. I think also temp may be an issue. With my old WC guys, they were fine till the temp sat at a max of 82 in the afternoon 2 days in a row, then 2 died. Heat stress cannot be underestimated for these chams.
Yes I know- I was vastly relieved it was only 38! I am prepared for lots of babies, mentally at least, and have a few months to go to sort the physical out, when hopefully my cham room will be ready! And plenty of potential outlets thought about also.
Well she was a star - dug to australia all yesterday and overnight, then at some point produced 38 perfect eggs! She has had a locust, a silkworm, a roach and a couple of crix already and I will post pics when I get back from work. Very very happy.
My female yemen Jemima was mated exactly 28 days ago today. I went home at lunchtime and had a quick peek into her viv (it's been covered by a sheet for the last week to give her privacy), and could just see her back half sticking out of the hole she's digging. She's been looking grumpy and...
update
well after an hour or so of the HUH? expression he started to get the idea. First we had a couple of hours of...
Nearly!
And a few more times but I accidently deleted the pics, I got bored and went out to enjoy the sunshine (In the UK ). Came back to find this -
Guess...
Well, so much for male yemens only having a one track mind!! She is prancing round her cage in her prettiest greens. He is sat ther with an expression that can best be described as - HUH? !!
Thanks for the info guys. I felt that male into female was probably best but wanted some other opinions. Looking at her this morning she is finally starting to show some blues I think (raised her temps and food intake about 6 weeks ago!). It's a bit hard to say as she's an antisocial so and so...
My little girl Yemen is growing up - a year old now. No signs as yet of receptive colours, but I am now happy enough with her size to consider breeding her when she does. The question I can't find an answer to is - do I put him in with her, or her in with him??
She is marginally easier to...
