Need new care for my Veiled any suggestions?

I have one of each, and they're almost exactly the same, even in price once you take into account shipping & handling. Both are easy to set up as well. To me, I prefer the ZooMed one. It's solid black (which is just a preference of mine, but doesn't matter), the wire on the screening is...

    Sick Chameleon

Chameleons get stressed very easily. They do not like human interaction, or any interaction at all. It's best to place her somewhere where there isn't a lot of traffic.

    Sick Chameleon

The vet bill can add up quickly, expect that. Make sure you see a herp/reptile/exotic animals vet. I found that the initial exam tends to be between $55 and $65. She might be given calcium shots, which tend to be somewhere in the $25 range. It just adds up fast when there's a lot that the...

    Any advice?

I agree. First things first, try removing her friends. Next, put in a laying bin, even if you and your vet don't think she'll lay. It's best to have one in there anyway. If the cage isn't already placed somewhere high up (as long as the bottom of the cage is at your waist, it should be fine)...

    Veiled Chameleon Help

According to my vet, the ReptiSun 5.0 isn't nearly enough UVB. I use the 10.0, and he still said it's not enough. I was suggested to use mercury vapor bulbs. Also, most UVB lighting needs to be replaced every 6 months or so.

what do I do-Is my Chameleon sick????

Did you clean your hibiscus well before you gave it to her? Is the soil fertilizer free? Have you ever seen her try to eat the soil? Are you giving her supplements? Are you using substrate in her cage? A lot more info needs to be given...

Man, I hear you. I wanted to go too, but my boyfriend didn't want to, so I ended up sitting at home with him. :( I didn't want to go by myself...

    Is my cham sick

Talked to my vet about this... In his opinion, that's not nearly enough UVB. I'm using the 10.0, and he still suggested I switch to a mercury vapor bulb.

    how old do you think?

Usually, you can just set the bowl on the scale and zero/clear it out. That way, it will only count your cham (or whatever else you put in the bowl). It's much easier to do, if you have the ability to, no setting anything to negatives or weighing anything other than your cham.

Sorry, Syn. :o Uhm... The Insight Bowl is just the name of the ASU arena, not sure what's happening there though.

    Plans for New Years?

From what I know, by the universities there are always parties and such. There's also the Fiesta Bowl Block Party that they do every year, which is also by ASU. http://phoenix.about.com/cs/events/a/fiestabowl01.htm

    Will she lay?

Yeah, that was him. He called me about 45 minutes ago... Aurora passed away around 8:30pm last night. He said he's not exactly sure why, but he will do an autopsy free of charge. :( sad new year's eve for me. I tried everything I could... She was only 7 and a half months old. :(

    Will she lay?

I'm sure he does, but I will still ask. I saw someone on Monday with a giant iguana in there, and today someone had a bunny. He also has pics of him on the walls with monkeys and such, lol. Quite a wide variety of animals to know about.

    Will she lay?

No, Dr. Funk is a bit far for me, and the most expensive out of everyone within 50 miles of me. I'm going to Dr. Driggers at Avian & Exotic Animal Clinic of AZ in Gilbert. He's very nice, and well educated. He also use to breed chameleons, and has awesome reviews online from others. I am...

    Will she lay?

Another Update Took her back to the vet today... She got x-rays done, and got induced with oxytocin. As I was paying ($304!!) she hissed and laid over on her side. I asked if that was normal and the tech went back and got the vet. He picked her up as she was panting and told me he was going to...

    Will she lay?

Aurora still hasn't laid her eggs and she now has a little bit of diarrhea, so I called the vet back today. He told me I need x-rays and a fecal done, which I'm okay with. But now, since today is there "emergencies only" day, an exam is $120 instead of $55. That's on top of what it's going to...

Help! Never posted before! Fearing my cham is sick!

Is your UVB light source a tube style or coil style light? I'm not saying it's the solution to her problem, but it should be a tube style bulb. The coil styles have been known to cause health problems. Also, just for basic care of her, if you have any substrate in her cage, that should be...
