Hey all I'm 99.99999% sure my female is gravid yet she isn't going to the bottom of her enclosure. There is an egg laying bin in the bottom with a 50/50 mix of soil and sand but when I check on her she is always at the top and doesn't seem to care about the bin. Any way I can get her to realize...
I didn't trust the gasket they gave me so I got a lid and ran a hose from the lid to the bottom of the bucket. The water gets pulled up and out instead of just out. I can show you pictures if you're interested.
So how direct does the UVB bulb placement need to be? Does it have to be directly above a basking spot or will the UV rays reach a Cham even at an angle?
The inside is sealed with a combination of silicon sealant and aerosol vinyl. And I was going to go the reptibrezee/screened inclosure route but I thought I could do this for less money... I was dead wrong but by that time it was too late to turn back haha. Either way coco has a mansion to play...
Hey all just thought I'd share the lowes has some great cheap plastic pots right now. They have a built in divider in the bottom to aid with drainage. Drill a few holes in the bottom and they're perfect. They were 3-8 bucks depending on the size.
To be honest here, there isn't an easy way to make that suitable for a chameleon. Having any substrate is typically discouraged as it make it hard to clean, will give places for crickets to hide, and if ingested by your Cham will cause impacting. As others have suggested search for enclosure...
Update: It's 90% finished and moved into my apt! just have to wait a few weeks for the waterproofing paint to cure completely and I need to install the screens.
Also here's the drainage system the I built in. The enclosure is slightly tilted to the back and then is funneled to the drain...
I had a monsoon for about 8 months before it crapped out. As other have said put it on a different timer so you can stagger the first misting about 30-60 min after the lights turn on. This will let your Cham warm up before blasting him with cold water. Also I had mine set up to mist 2 min every...
Nothing to speak of. It's still sitting at my friends house waiting to be finished. The biggest hiccup is finding a place for it in my current apt. I think I just thought of how to rearrange my living space to accommodate it. If I have then it should be up and running in a month or so.
