I am looking at mantids online right now. Browse this site http://mantisplace.com/aboutmantisplace.html for what they sell as housing and food to get an idea of what you will need for it. If it's big then i think it should be a female.
Aside from making sure you have any permits needed. It might be better to leave him home(or with somebody experienced nearby) and then have that person ship the chameleon to you when you get settled. I think that would be the least stressful way to get him there.
Just a thought...

I believe they lay clutches of 2-3 eggs at a time. I would expect a clutch every 4-6 weeks, if conditions are favorable. I don't really know how many clutches they can produce from a single breeding though. I was told with my panthers that after 3 clutches, the retained sperm is usually used up.
Hatching the eggs is very easy. I let mine sit on a bed of moist vermiculite at room temp. They hatched after 90 days. The hardest part is remembering to check them, LOL
Stick with what you are comfortable with and you will have great success. I hope you post photos when he arrives. I think...
Why not buy a gravid female and go through the process of hatching eggs? If you buy a gravid female, you don't need a male. I believe they retain sperm for over 1 year, closer to 2 years?(I think) Then when you hatch the babies you can sell me some. :D Unless you already purchased it, then...
I say go with the 20 gallon for your females and keep the male in the 10 gallon. Pygmy chameleons retain sperm for a LONG time so you dont always need a male in with the females.
If you are looking for bearded pygmies then you should be able to find CB babies or maybe even adults. Most of the...
The male in that photo has a black line which is a shadow and he was trying to lean away from me so his posture was not normal resting position. He has been the most shy so far. I just got them on Thursday.
Thank you for the compliment.

Totally, I couldn't sleep for the whole week before they shipped up until I finally opened the box. It was yesterday, not Wednesday that they arrived. It was a big sigh of relief!
I just got my first chameleons on Wednesday. They were shipped overnight but spent an extra day delayed some place. Anyhow~ I think the main concern is to mist and hydrate when they arrive. I also pretty much caged mine up and then left them alone. By later that day/early evening, they seemed to...
I dropped 2 dozen "small" size crickets about 2 maybe even 3 months ago, I have just recently started seeing them again. 4 of them have been spotted and captured in my bathroom.

I had a friend order from lll, 5 female pygmies, they sent 5 males. I posted pics of the 2 I got and everyone confirmed males.
Very cute chams though.

They are definitely ready to breed at that size. I believe they are capable of breeding at 3 months and up, someone correct me if i'm wrong.
They look great, I am very excited for you!

I use a half an orange and newspaper. The acid lifts the spots and the newspaper is abrasive enough to remove the calcium buildup and doesn't leave lint. dish soap leaves residue so make sure you rinse very well.
