    Veiled in a bird cage?

looking at the size of those gaps in the bars, I think you should go ahead and cover the cage in some kind of screen. If my math's right, those gaps are about a 1/2", a cham as young as your's would likely have no problem fitting through them. Better to play it safe.

    New to chams!

I would not be too concerned about the size difference. When fully grown, males (20"-24")are about twice the length of a female (10"-12"). The female may have been stressed at having the male in the cage with her, now that you have them seperated, she may start to grow a little faster without...

    Release into wild

Green Anole - Anolis carolinensis Native to the Southeastern United States, mostly Florida and the surrounding States. Had a few of these a few years back, they seem to thrive anywhere but in a tank. I'd guess that Texas is on the very edge of their natural range. They are frequently...

    Hornworms, Okay as feeders?

She's eating 8 1/2" crickets a day and I picked up the smallest worms the store had. I'll try again tomorrow, if she doesn't eat one, they're going to the geckos.

    Hornworms, Okay as feeders?

I picked up some hornworms last night to try with my veiled, only problem is, she seems terrified of them. I put one in a cup and she just hissed at it. Tried putting one on a branch in her enclosure, she would try to avoid it. When it crawled towards her she knocked it off the branch, no...

    Putting it All Together?

Just make sure you go as close to the centre as you can. You may find it easier to put the screw through one piece of wood, back it ou a bit, then put it through both pieces. Use 2.5" screws if you're concerned about splitting

    Putting it All Together?

If you're going through a 2x2, then use a 2.5 or 3" screw, straight into the wood frrom outside the frame, no angle. The wood is strong enough on its own. The L brackets would be overkill, and are likely to react to any water that gets on them If you are using a hand saw, I recommend...

New cage for pair of veileds- Dimension an plant ?'s

@ wheresstimpy That's it. Almost identical to what I have drawn up right now. Biggest difference is that the watering system will be enclosed and out of site. My cat would make a mess of the water and I have a bad habit of stubbing my toes on almost every piece of furniture in the house...

New cage for pair of veileds- Dimension an plant ?'s

I'll look into those, should be easy to find. I'm only within 15 minutes of about 3 home depots (they're everywhere here, new one every 6 months or so) and a few plant nurseries. Never heard of Bachman's. I'm actually about 50-60 minutes drive east of Toronto, it's just that no one knows...

Pilot holes shouldn't be needed if you use the proper screw. Exterior wood screws, like what you would use on a fence or deck would be best.

    Some Thoughts On Breeding

The costs... The cost of setting up a breeding operation, for any animal, can be enormous. My brother wanted to breed leopard geckos, I rolled my eyes and went along with it. Cost breakdown went something like this: Starter Kit - $200 3 geckos - $200 Found a cheap gecko and tank online -...

Idea for Enclosure - What Do You Guys Think?

The wood you found hasn't shrunk, it's just the way lumber is measured. The raw piece of wood is 2x2, but 1/4" is milled off of each side prior to shipping to stores. Can't remember why. For future reference, lumber 2x2 or larger has a 1/2" removed from each dimension. So a 2x2 is really...
