My jackson pretty much refuses to cup feed. He will watch the insects in the cup, but never eat them. Hand feeding works for worms though. Good luck
I understand you want to monitor food intake because she's gravid, but maybe later you could just let the insects free roam. Hunting is...
Alright, I will try. The darkening doesn't look to be into brown though, but more black. That's where my concern comes from..
Here I got one while he was basking...
The tip of his largest horn has been crooked since I bought him, but it looks as if it started growing in at the wrong angle, and then the horn started growing in correctly. The tip has always been more translucent, but now it seems as if its darkening under that extra horn tip, and the dark...
I've been using parsley lately, of course not as much water content as lettuce, but I include a water source for the crickets. What else do you feed your crickets?
Yeah, I had the same confusion honestly. I've read that spinach can cause digestion problems, and I've seen spinach, lettuce, and cabbage listed together before. (I don't know why though) Now, I just try not to feed the crickets lettuce. I've read it in a couple places, here is one. However...
I'm looking for some smaller mantids to feed my juvenile jackson. I don't really want to deal with hatching hundreds, and was wondering if anyone had extras they were willing to sell. Thank you
I use the same light. I'm not sure whether or not they can be dimmed though, sorry. Just remember to check your temps if you do get one, because they do get hotter the longer they are kept on.
An open mouth can also be a sign of an Upper Respiratory Infection. If he's making any kind of sound while he's breathing, he most likely has one. Don't regularly dust with vitamins, but if you're feeding crickets do dust them with calcium (without D3). Some Jackson owners don't use vitamins at...
Rust
My reptibreeze has rust, but only where I cut a hole in the top for a dripper. So, I'm guessing whatever they're coated in IS rust-proof, but if you expose the metal inside, it can still rust.
I've actually seen a male and female pair of jackson's at a zoo before in one enclosure. Both seemed to be permanent residents of the enclosure, and both were happy.
tangent
I was trying to find good info about transporting my cham, just in case I would need to. Unfortunately, the forum produced more debate over whether the cham should be transported in the first place. I'm more concerned with the best way to do it, should one have to. I know some people...
I wanted to know if there were any problems with my idea to just punch a bunch of holes in normal reptile carpet/liner so it can be placed directly on top of a screen bottom. I just want the water to drain through the bottom of the enclosure, but want it at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing...
Easy option. You'll find other posts about modifications if you search "Help with LLLReptile Drainage Pan "

Sorry sorry, you're right. I had previously read somewhere on CF that it's good to turn off the heat lamp about 30 minutes before the UV.I was thinking along the lines that UV hangs around longer than light, or at least can permeate clouds better. Or am I mistaken about that as well? I mean UV...
