    Help me win an argument

Considering the work and knowledge required to be a successful cham keeper, I don't even understand how anyone could argue it is not a hobby.

    Mouth Issue with Monty

Just wanted to say that Monty is in my thoughts, although I am confident he will get better under your care. You detected and got treatment for this right away, so I can't imagine it not healing up without issue! No way a small mouth cut could do any real harm to the world's handsomest...

    Reptisun T5 HO

We are talking T5HO lighting here, not T8's. Is your statement about T5's, which came out about a year ago, or the T8's which people have been using for a decade? I believe T5HO in general has a longer life, but I was asking if anyone has first hand experience testing this hypothesis.

    Need help with snails please

You will definitely want to transfer the eggs to another "rearing tank" before they hatch in order to avoid parasite transmission to the babies. Also, avoid moving dirt from the adult tank into the rearing tank as the dirt will carry parasites. I always wash the eggs in pure water before I...

    Reptisun T5 HO

Hello fellow chameleonistas (tm)! Now that the Reptisun T5HO bulbs have been out for some time, I am wondering if anyone has any direct experience to share about their durability and longevity? One of my Arcadia T5 bulbs just went out and the replacement I ordered came to me broken. I...

Orchid Success and Cham Room Update

Between work and life its been quite a while since I have been able to spend time on the forums, so I made sure to save a little time today to take pictures and post an update thread. First, the orchid experiment is officially a success, except for a hungry snail that munched on one of the...

    not cool

Not to be judgmental to those who buy WC chameleons, but this is what you are supporting if you are a consumer. The article says the shipment had a CITES permit and missed a connecting flight, resulting in the delay and mortality. From what I know, this packaging is par for the course...

Rearing in groups versus in isolation

It does seem natural. My father eats 2X faster than anyone else at our table. I asked him about it and he said that it was a result of growing up poor with many siblings; if he didn't eat fast, his older brother would come for his food.

    A tribute to George

So sorry to read about your loss of George Dayna. He was such a beautiful, angry fella! I am glad he will leave a legacy and help future chams that have the same papomilla issues he dealt with.

Not looking good for Simba :(

I am so sorry to read about your loss. It is so hard to say farewell and to deal with the hole left by their departure. I hope time quickly allows you to remember him fondly, without the presence of pain.

    successful orchids enclosure?

I am using phalaenopsis orchids and the cage is lit by a double T5HO fixture with one Arcadia 6% and one 6500k. The heat lamp is just an incandescent spotlight, but it does not shine on the orchid.

    successful orchids enclosure?

I have had a lot of success with my orchids. I am planning on posting a new thread because I actually just got my first new stem / flowers from the Orchid in my Nosy Be's cage! I consider that the confirmation of success as I have had difficulty getting a second bloom from store bought orchids...
