We are talking T5HO lighting here, not T8's. Is your statement about T5's, which came out about a year ago, or the T8's which people have been using for a decade? I believe T5HO in general has a longer life, but I was asking if anyone has first hand experience testing this hypothesis.

It does seem natural. My father eats 2X faster than anyone else at our table. I asked him about it and he said that it was a result of growing up poor with many siblings; if he didn't eat fast, his older brother would come for his food.

I am using phalaenopsis orchids and the cage is lit by a double T5HO fixture with one Arcadia 6% and one 6500k. The heat lamp is just an incandescent spotlight, but it does not shine on the orchid.

I have had a lot of success with my orchids. I am planning on posting a new thread because I actually just got my first new stem / flowers from the Orchid in my Nosy Be's cage! I consider that the confirmation of success as I have had difficulty getting a second bloom from store bought orchids...
