    Dark All the Time...

Ok, I am the new owner of a veiled, male, 4 month old chameleon. I have had him for less than a week. I have a routine for his mistings, feedings, etc. Here are his stats: He eats about 3-8 half inch crickets a day (supplemented twice a week), poops about once a day (poop looks normal...

    Thinking about acquiring a Cham

Here are my experiences--- 1) How labor intensive are Chams really? I've spent about an hour or two a day caring for my guy(a veiled). They require work but once a routine is established, it's not too bad. There are the daily things that need to be done: Temperature/humidity checks...

    eye crust

I also read somewhere that crustyness is caused by oversupplementation? Or was that nose crusties? well I am a complete noob but I did read about that somewhere...

    Cup Feeding

He is a male, veiled chameleon of 4 months. The size of feeders are .5 inch crickets. Sorry I didn't state any more information, I have been asking a ton of questions because I am a paranoid psycho when it comes to my new cham. So I just assumed everyone knew "the crazy new guy with the...

    Cup Feeding

I'm worried my chameleon may not be getting enough food, and I wanted to find out just how much he eats so I started cup feeding. Yesterday he only ate two out of the cup. I put another cup with 10 crickets in his cage today and he ate three, then lost interest. How many crickets will...

    drip pans

I made one by buying a little rubber maid container, that was about 13X7X3, cut a square out of the lid and hot glued aluminum screening to it. It works great and only cost me a few bucks to make. Granted it doesn't cover the enitre bottom of the cage, I keep the dripper to one side, and my...

    Behavior Questions...

Ok, So I took the plants out yesterday. My question is how do you guys fertilize your plants, if fertilizers are bad? Are there organic fertilizers? It would seem that a plant may become unhealthy without ferts, or at least most house plants do... Also, while I am posting, how many...

Best place to buy Crickets / MealWorms?

LLL Reptile sales 1,000 for 16.99 delivered, that is the cheapest I have come across. And they are ok quality. I had about 100 dead in my shipment, but there must have been more than 1000 in the order so I wasn't too worried.

How do you ship a Cham?

Hmmmm, I just got my new cham via UPS... Interesting. They must not check or care. They may just have the policies to appease some group or appear eco-friendly or something but they just end up doing it anyways.

    Behavior Questions...

Thanks for the compliments, but I am a bit worried about the dirt... I just bought two small potted plants from Wal-Mart as is (the only thing I did was wash off the leaves real well, with pesticides in mind), I didn't even think their would be a problem if they put in Miracle Gro or something...

    My new Setup!

I just got a new veiled this week from Lost Lake Chameleons... very satisfied with them and the cham they sent me. I have heard nothing but good about FL chams too. Sounds like you are ready and have great setup. Keep us posted!

    Behavior Questions...

Ok, so my new veiled guy has been doing well I think. I didn't know what a great personality chameleons can have. I have been making some adjustments (I had a drainage issue and got water freakin' everywhere) to his cage and he must come down and inspect every little change I make, it's pretty...

Best type of cham to start with.

The Veiled I just got today came from: Lost Lake Chameleons I was very happy with the condition and quality of the animal. The breeder was quite helpful also. FlChams is good from what I hear, and they have quite the selection. Both have male veiled for right around $110 with shipping.

Best type of cham to start with.

Welcome, These are some great forums. I am also new to chameleon keeping, in fact I got my first one today. I did hours of research and from my own conclusions and from what others told me, a veiled chameleon is the way to go. They are from Yemen which is in the middle east and do not...

    I got my veiled!!!

Yes this is my first, and I am a stressing out a bit until I get a hang of things... so maybe I wont up the temp then. He is about 3-4 inches long minus his tail. If I remember right, I am at work right now so I don't have an exact measurement yet.

    I got my veiled!!!

I forgot to add a few specs: Not pictured is a dripper that drips about once every 3 seconds, humidity is about 50-60%, the basking temp is 85(which I will increase with a bigger light bulb) ambient is about 75 degrees, which will also go up. I also have a UV light. Should I worry that he...

    I got my veiled!!!

Thanks, everyone. Josh told me he was about 4 months old. I will buy a bigger bulb today if he can handle more than 85. I wasn't sure at what age to up the temp. Here is a picture of his newest setup. He is hiding behind a vine when I took it. He also recently turned a dark green as...
