I'm not surprised your landlord vetoed the roaches. :) I have a colony of dubia, but everyone gets all freaked out when they see them.
Try to keep your crix as dry as possible, with good ventilation. This will cut down on the smell and keep them alive.
I can't think of anything that you...
Mantids would be very expensive to grow as a feeder. They also take a long time to grow. And lastly, they are too cool to use as a feeder.
Check out mantidforum.net for more info on them.
I do use 6500k bulbs with UVB bulbs. I don't believe they help plants grow anymore than other fluorescents though. The 6500k only refers to the color temperature. You would need a bulb specifically dedicated to growing to have any benefit.
What experience do you guys have administering this to chameleons? I have a female panther that I am worried is overdue. She has dug a few holes but laid nothing yet. I'm wondering how long I should wait, I bred her 40 days ago.
It would be fine, but your chameleons will enjoy catching the flies more. I would let them pupate and toss some of the pupae (sp?) in the bottom of re cage or a plant and let them hatch in your chameleons' enclosure.
I hear the mr148 sold by lll is decent. And it's not too much money, but it's capacity looks small. Other people swear by hovabators which are like $50. And a lot of people just use a closet.
