Let me see those feeder cups!

If you're doing a 3d rock background then you could either plan cup placement before you spray it (by covering the outside of the cup with sarap wrap so the foam doesn't adhere while it is drying, and it can then be removed for cleaning). Or you could also carve out a depression to set the cup...

    Feeder 'rankings'

I'd recommend at least switching the placement of the crickets and roaches. I raise turkish roaches and they produce easily, as well as eat anything I place in their bin. Mine go nuts for bee pollen and spirulina/seaweed.

I want suggestions on my cricket and roach homes

Andee was reading my mind on the spirulina and yeast. My roaches go crazy for bee pollen as well. I stack my egg carton vertically so the frass and egg cases drop down to the bottom.

    Chameleon Related Christmas Gifts Anyone?

I just got Life in Cold Blood. There's quite a bit of cham footage b/c they're a fav of Attenborough. How is the Biology of Chams book? The only cham specific book I have is The New Chameleon Handbook by Le Berre. It's older, but was way ahead of many other books when it came out.

    Green Tree Python information.

Kent, that is a beautiful snake. I cared for an emerald tree boa in the past when it's owner had to go away on business. I was never really into snakes, but that etb was just an awesome display animal, always right out in the open.

    how does this setup look?

Is that clear bottle top a feeding cup? If your cham is having trouble grasping cup feeding, try a solid color so it can only see from the top opening.

    substrates for baby chams?

I have used soil (not potting mix) in the past with senegals. I currently use ABG mix with two Jackson's. There is no smell at all. I have nice populations of springtails and isopods that eat all of the waste. This substrate helps keep humidity high. If I kept pygmies, this is the only...

    new substrate

I'm not trying to start an argument, but as long as you cup feed, I think you're ok. I use ABG mix with my jackson's, and it's great for keeping the humidity high.

    Fertilizer

I'd recommend a liquid organic based off of bat guano, worm castings, or seaweed. Dilute according to directions and add to the substrate after the lights go off. I always err on the side of caution and dilute mine more than the recommendation listed on the bottle. You can't hurt a plane by...

    New Enclosure need thought

The wire may hurt your cham's feet. You could replace with pvc coated wire that's available at Tractor Supply or Lowes/Home Depot.

    Wood Sealer

Check out some of the builds on monsterfishkeepers.com to see how well it holds up. Just try not to pick up another hobby :D

    Wood Sealer

Pond Armor comes in clear and in various colors. It is one of the few that are designed to actually be fish/animal safe. It also holds up to uv.

    Turkish roaches!

Haha, I'll take roaches over crickets any day. Crickets smell horrible.

    Greenhouse or building

Another cheap option to help with winter heating would be to get some 50gal plastic barrels (used for food storage) paint them black, fill with water, and seal. This acts as a heat sink and will release heat into the surrounding area when it starts to cool at night. This wouldn't take care of...

    Orchids in the cham cage

The base can often be wrapped with spaghnum moss and monofilament. If you check out dendroboard or this http://www.flickr.com/photos/29741813@N05/sets/72157623031340089/ gallery page of Black Jungle Terrarium Supply you will see a number of methods for attaching to various surfaces. If you...

    Breeding feeders

Turks also go by the name of "red runners". You could also order blue bottle fly larvae/pupae, and hatch them as needed into adults. Crickets are a lot of work, and smell bad.

    Got my first snails

If you get a colony going, I'd be interested in trading a colony of turkish roaches for a couple snails so I can set a colony up. :D

    Turkish roaches!

I just got a colony of Turkish roaches (blatta lateralis) set up. They are extremely poor at climbing, are not supposed to bury through substrate, and cannot fly. To confirm, the males are supposed to be able to glide. They are quite fast, so I would highly recommend feeding from a smooth...

    Got my first snails

I think any which are commercially available would be alright. The thing to consider would be the size. If the shell is too thick that might be a problem.
