The intention is not really what matters, it´s more the results.
You´re right, they only see other chams on our terms but that does not really make things better to me.
How about watching them and trying to find how they react on specific colors or patterns? ;)
I spoke of the individual chams...
Well, i think that communications through colors in chameleons is waaaaaaaaaay different from that in ball pythons or leopard geckos, isn´t it?
You´re right about the dogs, that was not the best example but it´s essentially the same kind of reason behind.
You´re right with that, but just...
That´s why such things are strictly forbidden here in Germany.
@camimom: don´t you think that, taking into consideration that we do not really know too much about the ways of communication of chams through colors we should not breed out forms with such deficiencies as translucent veileds have?
You´re absolutely right with that, not a personal thing.
I think that we do by far not know enough about how exactly chameleons communicate with colors to "support" a kind of disabled form like that, would be kind of like creating dogs with no tail because they can then not break tings with them...
Well, they cannot display any colors in the "translucent" regions, right?
That means they are not able to communicate with other members of their species properly, right?
A panther that has a unique pattern is totally different from that i think
I don´t think that this is to be compared with naturally typical variations of colorations!
Youßre right, it´s a naturally occuring mutation, just like cancer or snakes with two or more heads.
why do you think there are not to many of them seen in the wild?
I´m sure it´s not because this is an...
what exactly do you consider as "cool" when talking about making an animal that communicates with colors and patters unable to do so? i think it´s a shame people do such a thing and so not think it´s cool or funny or anything at all!
Thanks for the kind words :)
@laurie: in the first 3 pictures he´s shedding- as you surely saw and the wrinkly skin is the old skin that was still sticking to his body. Shedding took him very long this time, as when he only needed 1-2 days before, were 5days this time and he stil has a small...
Hey Dude,
looks great but i really think that those are not wide enough for housing adult male F.pardalis.
What i also not get is how you plan to house a Parson together with the panthers as parsons have completely different needs in temperatur especially in winters.
I have made the...
I think the same. Parsons shouldn´t mate before (at least the female) they are at least 2 years old. Would be a shame if she would die from being eggbound or have problems with her growth because of a early mating.
On the other hand it´s much more fun for him if you offer small crickets as you can then give him more to hunt ;)
What about my question from before about how much of the specific vits is in your supplement?
Currently i only have a about 11 months old parson, but the supplement is kind of the same as for other chams, just that parsons get more of it as they don´t like intense UVB.
I use Korvimin ZVT+Reptil for Vitamins and Herpetal Mineral for (guess for what? xD) minerals.
Could you tell me how...
