    Is this normal??

Many of us know the feeling! Just wait until the first time his hemipene comes out to play, he's trailing a stuck sperm packet behind him or you see him bulging an eye around for the first time. :D

At the Vet's office, shortly after biting the Vet. I guess he didn't care for her bedside manner.

    No Interest in Feeders

I was feeding every-other day, but since becoming finicky I have been offering him something every day in hopes of finding something that will catch his interest. Flies always got his attention before when he would get picky, so this was quite a surprise. I've been varying the shapes and sizes...

    No Interest in Feeders

Feldman will normally will actively stalk flies in his enclosure, even smaller house flies. Typically he will eat around six in rapid succession. He never has cared for roaches, so his lack of interest in them doesn't surprise me. He is also turning his nose up at his usual favorites, superworms...

    Yeeeeessss!

I wish that the LLL pans were about an inch or so deeper. It's a good idea, but there is some room for improvement.

    Missing My Chams

I work 24 hours shifts. The first thing I do when I get home from work is go straight to Feldmans enclosure to check in. :D

    Yeeeeessss!

The LLL tray is too short in one dimension to fit the DIY cage in the 48"x24"x24" size.

As I recall it was because the smaller turtles were more apt to be played with due to their smaller size as well as cuteness. I had a baby turtle when I was 5 or 6 and my folks were always reminding me to wash my hands after touching it. Little turtles are definitely cool!

Surprisingly high, actually. Enough so that in 1975, the sale of turtles under four inches were banned by the FDA due to the high incidence of children being infected. Four inches was used as a minimum size to lessen the likelihood children putting a turtle in their mouths. An estimated...

Several million eggs were recalled, but actual cases of salmonellosis were far less. Around 200 for June and July, which the CDC says is 4x the norm. The statistics seem to paint a fairly clear picture on this one. Daily human-hen's egg contact numbers in the millions. Human-reptile contact in...

The CDC estimates 74,000 cases of salmonellosis are transmitted per year from reptiles in the US. I'll take my chances with the eggs. ;)

Salmonella comes quickly to mind. Tuberculosis can be contracted from infected reptiles through a bite or scratch. There are others. Proper hygiene goes a long way in curtailing disease transmission. I wash my hands with soapy water and then again with an alcohol based sanitizer before handling...

    watery feces...need some help...

A fecal up here ran $40. It came up positive for parasites so I had to bring him in for an exam. The exam and a pair of Rx meds ran another $60 as I recall. After you are done with the meds, the vet will likely want to do another fecal.

    watery feces...need some help...

If the watery feces continues, you might consider having a fecal study done. True diarrhea in reptiles can be a sign of internal parasites.

    Best Cage

I have both LLL and DIY enclosures in the 2'x2'x4' size. The front of the LLL is divided into three sections; a fixed upper panel, the door section and a lower panel. The lower panel can be opened by pivoting it on the pair of screws which hold it in place. It is held closed by two rotating...
