Thank you i do appreciate the info. I will cut back immediately. I only feed my roaches oranges, carrots, and in light moderation water cubes with calcium. Is this good enough or should i change this up as well? And add more greens?
Also, how often would you supplement with Vitamin A and D3...
You could be right. I have found lots of info on jacksons but not so much on the supplementing. One thing i do know is oversupplementing isnt hard to do in montane spceisies, this is why i am concerened.
So if he is only suppose to get half of what he is getting should i skip a few days to...
My jacksons is just over 8 months old now. I would just like to know what other people use for a supplementation schedule.
I currently use roaches and silk worms as primary food. He normally will eat 2-3 roaches a day and one silk worms for dinner.
I dust almost every roach with calcium...
That shouldn't be a problem then. As long as they cant see each other.
Another reason chams will hang out at the bottom is, if it is too hot. Maybe check your temps.
If he were my cham i would get his checked out if he keeps up the strange behavior. Better be safe than sorry chams can go...
YES if he can see another cham it would cause some stress. Very well could be why your guy is at the bottom of the cage more. I use a towel on a side of my cage.
Im not sure dont quote me but that almost looks like he could have scratched it on something. Chameleon scabs can get dark like that. My other thought is, maybe some kind of skin infection.
If he had a little accident and scratched himself or maybe bruised something else. Could maybe be why...
I have the nematodes but haven't had the time to go put them to use. The directions say to mix the solution with peat moss, then add to the infected plants. I have to get the peat moss. I have been told that peat moss isnt good to have in a cham cage?? so i was thinking i would use the moss for...
I hate to keep harping on this same subject but, if chameleons poo in the same spot in the wild to attract bugs. How does it attract the bugs with no odor??
Not trying to say you guys are wrong that say there should be no odor, but i am having a hard time believe that something can eat bugs...
Im curious what kind of parasites make poo stink?? Both of my jacksons have both had stinky poo and both have been tested. I am convinced that i must do another sample... you guys have me worried.
I try to feed my cham if the front of the cage. Therefore, he poops in the front of the cage where it is easy to get.
Naturally chameleons poop in a particular spot to attract bugs, via their dinner.
Hope this helps...
Ive had fecals done they passed, and my guys turds stank. I have also been told different variety of bugs can make a different smell of a turd too. For example, when my cham eats silk worms it really stinks.
This is the stupidest thing i have read on the forums so far.
BLEACH KILLS BACTERIA AND IS A HELL OF A LOT CHEAPER THAN A NEW BIN @ 10$.
Some people have more money than brains.:D
I too have used these with no problem but after you read this http://www.uvguide.co.uk/phototherapyphosphor.htm you wont want them anymore. It is proven to cause serious problems. I would get rid of them ASAP
I hate products that do this. I think it would be a good idea to make a sticky of all these products. Heated vine, compact bulbs, UVB tubes with plastic covering the tube... the list goes on. ITS TERRIBLE!
