a little more
My guy likes a little more green than what you got. I would also add some way to traverse between the branches.
Otherwise it looks good to me.
Maybe parasites
This could be a sign of parasites. I would take the sample and your cham to a vet ASAP. I know in mammals it can be a sign of a perforated bowl which can lead to painful infection and death quickly.
Is his belly puffed and/or hard. These are definite signs of infection...
switch feeding times
Yoda is a pig, usually immediately eating whatever I put in. When he decides to strike, I just don't feed him in the mornings (my usual) and feed him in the afternoon when I get home. This is usually enough time for him to get over whatever finicky nature he had and take...
resists mold
Coconut fiber (coir) is highly resistant to mold and bacteria growth naturally which is why it is used in planting applications.
I have also read that it is a good material to line side screens with in a cham cage so they have better climbing than the screen and prevents stress...
Bin
Have you considered making her a bin in a trash can (new and clean of course) and putting her directly in it. She will need some basking and climbing items, but it will give her ample opportunity to lay her eggs.
Veiled skeletons are cool
I saw one at a show. It was pretty awesome.
I agree that I could not do that to my Yoda, but a lab specimen or even a recreation would be cool.
I agree
I have to agree with the other posters, it does not sound like you are ready to handle breeding chams. This is a significant undertaking like any animal breeding project. If not done optimally you risk not just $$$, but the health and well being of your chams and their offspring...
try live capture
see what you can catch. There are guides in the forums for what wild caught food is safe. For the future keep a can-o-grasshoppers (available many places on line) around. My cham can be tricked into eating them if I run out and the pet store is out.
Some chams take...
If it is a baby, you will need to start smaller. It will be difficult for the baby to get to a good basking position in such a large enclosure. A lot of people I know start the babies in tanks since it is easier to heat and keep the fruit flies in.
Anyone with better advise, please correct me.
allergies
To the best of my knowledge chams don't carry or produce allergens. Roaches and crickets may cause a reaction directly or indirectly through their dander. Also check to see if it is any of the cleaning products you are using. Crickets produce a lot of ammonia. If you use a bleach...
Too much can hurt
Too much UVB can hurt the cham. 10's are for desert dwellers that are used to more direct harsher sunlight. 1 5.0 should be sufficient so long as your cham has unobstructed basking several inches under it. Use the other for full spectrum or heat if possible.
Also, if...
Does anyone know a good Cham vet in the Columbus, OH area? My cham (Yoda) has a grey patch on his veil and I would like to get it checked out. I think it is just low heat (we moved him to a cooler room while the house got painted), but better safe than sorry.
Mist King
I switched from a habbamist to mistking based on the advice of the forums, and my Cham (Yoda) could not be happier. The one thing to be sure is to have drainage. I am getting some puddling in the bottom of the cage as I tune the misting. I use coir to absorb most of it, but will be...
Awesome
They look fantastic. I am looking forward to when my wife lets me get a female to start breeding my guy (Yoda, my son named him).
