the fan i so small though. but maybe your right.. i will look into mesh enclosures and seen what i come up with..
but one question.. having an all mesh cage, wouldnt it be even harder to controll temps and humidity levels? it will be just as big of a hassle. just sayin:cool:
i totally understand where you are comming from..but the fan is sucking the air out of the cage.. there is no draft and it doesnt spin to fast. i have been toying with the idea of replacing some more glass with mesh but i dont think its even necessary. your concern is totally valid but IMHO i...
true but in all reality it really doesnt make a difference. .. anyways thanks for you help guys! i have been pretty succesfull in keeping the humidity stable at 65-70% with the fan blowing air out
there is nothing bad with a glass/mesh enclosure though.. as long as you can keep the temp and humidity controlled then you should be fine.. yes alot of you guys use all mesh, but it really doesnt matter as long as the environment is controlled.
yeah thats what i was thinking.. i dont have my cham yet but i will be getting him in a couple days. the enclosure is mesh top and door with the rest glass. i think i have it pretty much under controll. i have been running my setup all day and it seems to be pretty stable with the fan blowing...

this is where i buy all my vitamins
my humidity was at a constant 75-85%.. i have been trying to lower it to 50-65 range (this fan helps to pull some humid air out).. the temp is not effected as it is such a small fan. my temps stay constant at 80-82. i was just wondering if i blow air inside, will the cham like it? or not? thanks
hey.
yes all of you guys love chameleons!! but some have other hobbies..im interested to see other peoples hobbies. post pics
here is my other hobby. downhill/freeride mountain biking. i love building bikes and riding them!
lets see your Hobbies!
hi i have installed a fan to blow air out of my enclosure. but i was wondering that if i turn the fan around to blow air into the enclosure, will the cham like it or not? the room temperature stays around 75-80deg so im not blowing cold air into the enclosure. any input? thanks
for anyone that is wondering.. i have been able to bring down the humidity using a small computer fan running through and on/off switch which is connected to a 6v rechargeable battery. this actually works really well!!! the fan blow the air out of the tank.
they can eat alot of WC insects.. make shure they arent poisonous or havnt been near pesticides. flies, moths, butterfles, grasshoppers, spiders, etc can be fed. just try not to keep them on these diets as a staple diet as they are not verry nutritious.. never heard of sea monkeys??????
hhhm.. adding rocks in a middle layer may actually work.the soil doesnt seem that wet at all. its slightly damp.. i will let i dry a bit for 1 day and see how it goes.. if its still high then i may add that middle layer.
wow im surprised that this wasnt discussed before.. yeah i will figure something out.. im pretty creative so i think i can solve this. i only watered that much to check the system out. now ive been testing with regular mistings and using the dripper (drips every 7sec) and the humidity...
the tray can easily be removed.(kinda heavy, but it slides out) i still dont have my cham but the cleaning process would be to take the top layer of rocks and wash them. the rest of the tank just cleans out with some 2%bleach solution. (make shure there is no hint of bleach left after cleaning!)
