That cage is way too barren. I strongly suggest you put a ficus in there that will fill the majority of the cage ASAP. And don't forget to repot it in organic soil and cover the soil with screen and rocks.
Kind of drifting off topic but I think the allure of chams is that they are so specialized in so many different ways, everything about them has evolved to be different from any other lizard. Everything including their eyes, tail, feet tongue, head shape, and color is just unlike anything else...
You might want to try flukers "Repta-Boost" carnivore formula. They sell it at petsmart and other pet shops that would have reptile stuff. It's just a powder that you mix with water to create a paste, it comes with a syringe to admister it with. Basically, it is like a concentrated meal...
Oh, good. When you said "in my plants," I thought you meant in your yard like he wandered into your bathroom or something from outside. In thy case, I think as long as he swallows it fine, there shouldn't be any digestive issue other than reduced appetite for a few days.
Oh gosh, please don't demasculate this for me lol. Obviously though, there area by more male reptile keepers than females. I personally know no female Cham keepers, but a few that do have snakes or other lizards. That being said, I do not believe there is a higher percentage of female reptile...
Umm, If this actually is the same species as "our" hornworms, don't they naturally occur on plants that make them toxic, if so does this toxicity carry over into the adult stage? I hope not for his sake. Anyway, can anyone confirm or deny this?
This is exciting, although the original formula could easily be cut with SuperCal NoD to make the low version. I stayed away from the original Cal+ because I felt its levels were too high for daily use but I may just try out the low version on my little guy if others have success. Even though I...
When I leave for just a few days, I just give him an extra big meal the day before i leave and when I get back, and let the aquazamp do the rest. Longer than a few days, I just have one of my friends who also has a cham feed him. Either way, the aquazamp makes life SOOOO much easier. If I didn't...
Also for drainage, look at this thread. In the comments you can see pics of my setup and I talk about my drainage system. It has worked very well for me.

When I ran a dripper before I had my aquazamp, I had a big dripper, and I ran all day when the lights were on. Also, see my dripper mod, it makes the zoo med drippers work much better. To find it, just google "zoo med dripper mod".
Bravo, it looks like you have done an excellent job of researching the equipment you need. For the basking bulb, you don't need to buy a bulb sold for pets. Most people just use household bulbs. Also, 100watts is a bit high, but you have the thermostat which should do a fine job of regulating...
There's nothing morally wrong with this. As it is not out place to judge (in this case). However, i think the only thing we should be critical of is the health of the chameleon. I live in Florida, where these little brown anoles are invasive, and all over the place, i'm looking at a bunch...
Although this behavior could definitely be cause by a plethora of more serious problems, my Cham has exhibited similar behaviors when his cage temps drop. Mine seems to do best when the basking temp is around 90.
One of the nice things about the more expensive species is that when a buyer pays a couple hundred bucks for a cham, they usually take their care more seriously. Notice how many sick or improperly cared for chams tend to be yemens.
I started my 4 month old in a 2x2x4 from 3 months old. My little guy doesn't like cup feeding but I've found the best way to feed him is to put the crickets on the screen towards the top and let them climb up where he hangs out, he takes care of the rest.
If you want red, orange, and blue on one Cham, I think your best bet is a blue bar ambilobe. For solid red, Tamatave. For mostly orange, probably a Sambava. And for solid blue, my favorite, the Nosy Be.
I've heard of at least a dozen other locales that are just never exported so there are few in the pet trade. Alot of them look extremely similar to the common ones, or are simply not very attractive.
Others that actually are in the pet trade that I can think of are Nosy Mitsio, Ankaramy, Diego...
