I will second this statement. I came on the forums originally with my mind made on pro-mist, and ended up getting in touch with Jason. I am very big on customer service - I usually will end up actually purchasing a product based on my interaction with the individual/company. Jason was nice...
Im still eagrly awaiting mine in the mail :( Im thinking that the two lighter sessions in the morning and afternoon would work great, and then a longer 15 min one in the middle? So like, 8am, 2 mins - 1pm 15 mins, and then 6pm another 2 mins? That gives you 2 hrs for it to dry out before lights...
summoner12 - great post bro! that looks perfect:) I what about this for a solution to the larger poop - at the ends (or even randomly around on the main area), cut a smaller notch out of the sides or something to accomidate the larger poops, and then just tip it up at an angle and they will...
The "pod" i ordered from costal was loaded with poo from the transit - but all the silks clung to the plastic meshing they had placed inside. All I had to do was tip it up and hold the lid in place, everything but the worms and food fell out.
I do remember seeing a thread once - or possibly...
Holy bejesus that does not look good. Did you break that up or is that how it came out? The picture looks kinda blurry, but that poop looks LOADED with parasitic worms to me.
I still cant get over how large she is, I mean wow! Let us know how many she has - typically they will birth in the early morning between 6am-11am if you are keeping her on a routine lighting schedule that is (which you should be btw if you are not:))
Mealworms are fine for a day or two, so dont panic, but like chriscarter said, they are not a staple based on fat content, and their makup of primarily chitin - no real "meat" to em that is high in all the good stuff they need.
Yea, ever since i got into this hobby i have dreamed of going. Have you guys ordered the chameleons of Madagascar DVD yet? That would be a great place to start for getting stoked on a trip!
Let me know if you plan one, haha id be right there with ya!
Yeah, i have read the same thing that people loose em left and right- we had a ton of em in hawaii, so I used them as a staple and never really lost any either. Since I was in such a small studio, the chirping crickets just wouldn't work for me. I actually ultimatly had to get rid of my male...
I tried that, the crickets mauled the worm, poor guy was flailing left and right trying to fend em off. Did i just discover a new cricket gutload?!!!:eek:
Didnt expect that either, I separate the crickets each night prior to feeding him in the morning so they get all fat and loaded up!
Dont be too afraid to let em take a bit of a drop - as long as its not TOO high - the impact sorta "triggers" their response to start breaking out of the gooey sack they are in. If you want, feel free to place a few moist paper towels to soften the blow, but overall you should be fine with up to...
The first time i was in a store and saw an ambilobe, i sorta was trying to sputter it out.. the store owner saved my feeble attempt with "Am-bee-uh-lobe".
If you really want to get into it - remember that most of (or all of?) the names come from the town they are near - for example Nosy Be's...
Hrm interesting!! How large do these moths get? Are there readily available nutrition facts for the moth form of these? Is breeding them a pain? (moth form)
I might have just found a little side project here :D. I already talked to some of the local petstores around here who would all LOVE...
WOW! Yes, she looks VERY pregnant! I have not personally bred jacksons, so i cant 100% confirm that, however I observed literally hundreds of females in both the wild and in petstores when I was living in Hawaii. Over the span of about 3.5 years, I have seen probably 20+ females that size, and...
I know he will love em!!! Im gonna jsut keep trying here for the next few days leaving some around on the branches, and see if he eventually eats em. Its hard to monitor becuase half the time, I can barely find HIM muchless a small silkworm that may have wandered off :)
This is a great question Justin - I hope to get a good answer as well from some of the big guys.
If i had to take a stab at it, I would say that the #1 factor would most likely be one of the most obvious ones- appetite and overall food consumption. I would assume that these guys have charts...
