My 4 month old female veiled sits on a brown branch while she basks. Is it normal for her to be brown while she perches? I know dark colors usually mean they are upset but she turns bright green at night when she sleeps on a green vine. Her is a picture of her. She also just started shedding...

Her name is Stella. She is bright green while she sleeps, but very dark during the day. I think she is getting used to it.

My UVB bulb is on the side of my cage since my basking is on the top. Is this safe? My veiled seems to love it and sits in front of it and under the basking a lot.

One more quick question. She is sleeping on top of the cage upside down. Is this normal?

She looks great now! She is upside down in her cage chasing after crickets. She is a bright green. The only thing I am confused about is I have had the lights off for about 2 hours now and she still has lots of energy.

My cage is 18x18x30. Reptisun 5.0 UVN and basking. I have a Hibiscus and a grape vein. Basking is around 88 and and general temp is around 79. Nighttime is 70. She is a veiled female around 4 months.

Cage is pretty nicely set up, but she is a dark color and is hiding in the back of the cage. Is this normal? Should i just let her be and keep food in at all times? Because I tried to hand feed her and she got scared and turned around.

Just making sure because that is what I currently have. I guess I need to go buy another.

Just ordered my veiled! My cage is all set up perfectly. Temps and humidity are perfect. UVB is working. All I need is the chameleon and a good name. I was thinking about Stella.

I guess I'll go with a female veiled then. Seem to be less trouble.

I think I have decided on the carpet. I'm starting my research now! Can't wait. My cage comes in Tuesday. I am going to start setting it up ASAP. I will post pics when it is finished for approval and tips. Thank you for your advice.

I have been doing general research for about a month and a half now. I have pretty much everything (tall, mesh cage, UVB and basking, hibicus, etc) I am thinking about the carpet because my cage is 40' tall and I don't think that is big enough for a veiled.

I have the option of buying either a veiled or a carpet. Should a first time owner such as myself stick with the veiled or are carpets hardy enough for my care?
