Went to the vet again today. He did a Cantnotomy on him. He cut part of his eye lids open. He said it was a birth defect that he couldn't get his eyes open and they wouldn't open enough. And said to keep using the drops. So has this ever happened to anybody before?
Things aren't looking any better. He is still not opening his eyes. He eats 1-2 crickets a day but drinks plenty. His poop is white and black, but you can see some undigested crickets in it. He still holds his mouth open a lot. I lowered the temps to a MAX of 80. He still does it.. Called the...
Just gave him his eye drops again and one eye seems to be improving more so than the other. He is moving it around and has it 1/2 - 3/4 fully open. So hopefully he will recover from here.
Update:
His eyes aren't doing any better but they aren't doing any worse. He still climbs around with his eyes barely open. Got more foliage and more places for him to climb vertically.
What environmental factors could keep his eyes like they are?
Yes can. I'll post them as soon as I get home. Only reason I have it in there is because he won't go near it. He just stays in one area. I'll move it on top see if there is more movement outta him.
Put two umbrella plants in there and removed the ivy. Also the vet said there was a little red spot of inflammation on his tongue but said he has seen it before and not to worry about it unless it got worse and spread, does this mean anything?
It's normally in his enclosure like that. He doesn't go anywhere near it. He doesn't move within a square foot of where he normally stays. I'll be getting some more little plants for him ASAP. And getting rid of the ivy. Maybe some umbrella plants.
The force feeding isn't "force feeding" with his eyes the way they are he can't see anything, when he opens his mouth I put a cricket in it and he chews it up an shallows it.
Sorry didn't mean to make it hard for you. I am just worried. The vet didn't seem to concerned with anything else othe than his eye problems. I'll remove the ivy plant but what other small leaves plants are there for him? I've been trying to find some but I can't. He has plenty of different...
Sickly little guy..
