I think female Veileds are great. I just got a new female last week, 4 months old, and she is so chill. She has a totally different attitude than my big mean guy. And she is a pig!

I'm thinking female too. At that age the spurs might not be totally obvious but they should be a little more promintent.

I'm sure plastic sides with sealer would work, the plastic might not be super cheap though :(. Try to keep in mind that ventalation is important too. I saw that the front was mesh but I've never owned a cage that had most the sides are covered. I've seen a few pics of some on here though and...

I'm no vet but your cham looks to be in pretty good shape. MBD cases do have bulges on they're ankles but they look much worse and often they are also associated with bowed legs.

you can use a regular house bulb for the basking light as long as you manage the temps with a digital thermometer.
