Kinyonga said it very well! I would not suggest keeping a light on her at night though. I think there is a light that is acceptable for night time use. Not sure what it is. Any help from other members on that? I did have a cham that was making a barking sound almost like a cough. Turned out she...
Thanks for the river rocks idea! I'm going to pick some up. Also, just in case she does get into the plant, I try to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't get stuck in the roots.
Why are you trying to use calcium drops? For the pregnancy? I just follow my regular supplement cycle for them. But, be careful not to overfeed her. As far as being housed with other chams, at about 2months old, if you notice them hissing and nipping at one another, then it's time to separate...
Has she been housed with males? If she has been and she is old enough to produce eggs, then, pregnant spots will be a really bright yellow. I mean brilliant! Mustard...not so much.
I wouldn't suggest helping them to shed. You can do more harm than good. Don't worry, they know how to get it all off. When I have one shedding, I try to make sure to give them a couple extra mistings with really warm water.:)
I use the narrow rubbermaid waste cans. 13.3x.9x9.9". 8quart.
Deep enough and narrow enough to fit along side the plant. I like to drill small holes on the bottom to allow for drainage. Make sure that whatever you choose to put in the container for her to lay in that it is kept moist, not too...
I have had great luck with an even mixture of play sand and organic soil. I started using this method because a breeder I talked to raised the point that sand alone could be dangerous because it could potentially cave in on her when she is digging. Not sure if anyone else feels this way, but, I'm...
Everyone has given so much great input! I guess the first thing I would ask anyone interested in breeding is "Why?". Figure out the "Why?" and then realistically decide if the venture is for you. For me, breeding didn't start with that specific intention nor did it happen overnight. I started...
What size pieces or bricks did you make? I try to separate servings to whatever amount I think I might need to feed however many crickets I have to feed. Try freezing them in the cups with lids or make sure they are sealed really well before freezing. Just like with fruit that you gut load with...
I don't steam or blanch anything. Just make sure it's all peeled and clean. I cut everything into small chunks and put a little of each thing at a time. I'm a freak about making sure its mixed well. I add water just when it seems like its a little thick and won't blend really well. If you dont...
I would suggest keeping them in their own cage as well. They need their own space because they are very territorial. Females especially. If one of my girls isn't in a receptive state of mind, they just might show the male in no uncertain terms to leave her the hell alone!
Okay...here's the thing. Some cham owners believe that you can train your cham to get used to being handled while others believe that whatever their personality is, it just is. I really don't know if either way is right or wrong and I have no intentions of disputing one or the other. All you can...
Never tried to breed any of the worms. Yuck! I will occasionally buy some horn worms at a trade show here and there. I only get enough to give a treat to some of my bigger males. I use tongs too. Not a chance am I going to touch one of those little monsters! Look like they belong on an old...
I keep my male veileds at about 85-87degrees. Is he eating and have you seen him drinking? New to his cage? Sometimes my chams will get a little dark before a shed. Time for one? In a high traffic area?
