I don't think 2 grams is much to lose but as you are worried you could feed him up with a few wax worms. These are fatty and should be fed as a treat item but I think they work brilliantly for underweight chameleons.
I too am very sorry to hear you lost Arnie. From the photos I can tell he was very beautiful, stunning colouration on him. Remember you can save a chameleon from illness but you can't save them from old age:(

Your cousin needs to take control of this situation asap. Sounds like he will need to treat the chameleon himself after taking him to the vets. Lets hope this problem doesn't turn into mouth rot - I lost a chameleon to this awful disease.
