    HELP! please

I run a dripper for 12 hours in both my cages without any ill effects. In the bottoms of my cages I have gallon sized plastic containers, rectangular shaped, each of which is encased in a nylon stocking, which stops either my chameleons or their feeders falling in and drowning, but which still...

Limp tail and back leg problems

Hi, sorry to hear about your chameleon. Could you not take her to the vet now and arrange with them to pay for treatment in a few days when you have the funds? If your chameleon cannot move her back legs then I think that a vet visit is needed as an emergency, she may be in a lot of pain.

    New Reptibreeze xl setup ?

To be honest I would still have a dripper, as it means that your chameleon can get a drink whenever it wants, rather than having to rely on misting time. I can highly recommend the Reptibreeze - its an excellent cage and my adult male Veiled is absolutely thriving in there.

    New Reptibreeze xl setup ?

Hi Darren, welcome to the forum. I am in the UK too and have an XL Reptibreeze. What do you need magnetic ledges for? Am curious! Keeping humidity levels up when you live in the UK using a large Retibreeze can be a challenge, so mine is lined on three walls with bubble wrap, this...

But that's not true and I don't want to mislead anyone or end up having people scared of my chams.....

Quick Question about the Logistics of Using Worms as Feeders

Unfortunately, that is one of the disadvantages from using cup feeding as a stand alone method.... it can also make chameleons lazy. Making them hunt for their food, at least occasionally, replicates what they would do naturally in the wild and is good for them, makes them move around/exercise...

Young extended family members and Chameleons

I had my brother and sister in law call round this morning for an hour, together with my niece and nephew (9 year old twins). Although they live in the same town, we don't see them frequently and aren't particularly close - we get together about 3 times a year for christmas and family...

    New owner few questions

I would be skeptical as to whether this was a good sign to be honest, he may have just been shutting his eyes because he was afraid. Neither of my chameleons have ever gone to sleep on me, but that is not to say that others never do.

    Injured leg

In that case it doesn't sound like a break - he may have got it tangled in the wires under your fishtank and just strained it. Good to hear that he is improving, but to be honest, if it were I, if he is still dangling his leg in a week or so, a vet visit would be a good idea, just in case.

    New owner few questions

Try offering some different prey items as well as the small crickets, to stop him getting bored. As you live in the UK, juvenile Locust (hoppers) are readily available - both my boys adore them, they don't smell and they don't bite your chameleon if he doesn't eat them all.

    Something stuck in my chameleon

Hopefully... although a week is a long time for a chameleon to have suffered a prolapse without being seen. As Camimom has said you need to get to a vet URGENTLY - your chameleon is probably in a deal of discomfort and needs to be treated as soon as possible.

    Cleaning

Hi, I have thick paper towels on the floors of both my cages that catch any detritus, poop, leaves and water that are changed twice daily. Once a month I remove my chameleons and gut their enclosures completely, wash the plants outside with a hose and clean all the vines and branches with a...

Dark spot on the side of my Chameleon

Was it a reptile vet that you took him to, or a small animal vet? Many vets do not have the necessary experience to give you accurate advice in relation to reptile health issues, as it is a specialism in veterinary science. Unfortunately good Herp vets can be quite scarce - I am lucky enough...

    Veterinary Insurance

I'm curious as to how many chameleon owners have insurance for Vet fees? After I had Ghengis to the vet last week when he was diagnosed with a broken tail, I decided to get some quotes for vet fees only for both my chameleons and I was wondering how common it was? I was conscious of the...
