Blimey!!
You lucky thing!
My male Veiled - despite me treating him like King Charlie - having an enclosure that resembles Buckingham Palace for chameleons - having a variety of different feeders every week - thinks that I am the anti-christ and will got for me as soon as I get anywhere...
Absolutely not, in my honest opinion.
Feeders need plenty of green leafy vegetables and also fruits, to be of the maximum nutritional value to your chameleon, and what they would get in the wild.
Insects in the wild don't eat dog and cat food, and I am honestly astonished that an...
As mentioned in my earlier post - what are the temps in your cage and specifically his basking place - he might be going up into that corner to reach the light and heat.
I would not leave my chameleons on their own for four days under any circumstances.... just in case something were to go wrong.
A bulb could blow, the mister could fail to operate... even though they can go without food for that length of time, I would worry myself sick all the time that I...
Just to add as well, is his basking branch close enough to your heat source? There doesn't seem to be any branches or vines near the top of the enclosure, so that he can sit under the heat and warm up? Might explain why he is in the corner, he may be trying to reach the heat.
Its not so much the vines and perching places that are lacking, it is the foliage.... he probably feels very exposed, which might be why he is displaying stress colours in the photos.
You need to have lots of places for him to hide all over his cage.
Here's a photo of my set up - not...
I would love for my chams to eat fruit but neither of them will touch it.... you are lucky!
However, you do not want to be substituting fruit for well gut fed insects as your chameleon will soon become deficient.
I would withhold the fruit for a few days and offer nothing but insects until...
It does look a bit like a burn, but if you look closely at the picture, the skin almost looks "moist" at the edges and that leads me to think that there might be some sort of fungal infection going on here....
OP - I know that you say that it might not be possible to get to a vet, and you...
My honest belief is that you should keep chameleons by causing them as little stress as you can and that they will develop their colours naturally without using any artificial means.
Obviously, everyone is different, but I can say that I would never cause my chameleons any undue stress, and let...
I personally never use static temp gauges, they are rarely accurate and cannot give you ambient temps throughout the entirety of your viv. I always use infrared guns that can give accurate readings all over.
My advice would be to get him to a vet..... you are saying that he has got worse - seriously if you don't want to risk him losing his sight then take him to a qualified herp vet. If he is wheezing then he may have a respiratory infection, but the very fact that he is having problems with his...
Leave her be for a while a give her some privacy.
If she is gravid and you have provided a laying bin for her, she will find it eventually and will use it, as long as you leave her alone. Female chameleons often won't lay if they are being watched, so if you do see her in the bin, digging...
Love that first photo - that is one hell of a skin shed!! I love it when panthers blow off their entire body in a matter of hours!
Lovely cham and good set up! Thanks for sharing.
He may well sweeten up.
Try and offer him some free ranging.... when I was at my wits end a few months ago, the wonderful JannB told me to try free ranging - on his terms of course - and it has made a real difference.
if you can't do this, then my advice is to just persevere.... Male...
Lovely chameleon, but you do know that seeing his own reflection will stress him out, as he will think that he is looking at another chameleon?
It is really best to try and minimise the stress that chameleons undergo to a minimum.
Honestly not a criticism, but not something that I would do.
He looks like a real character!
Welcome to the forum.
As regards the water from your dripper, set a large plastic tub or container at the bottom that catches the excess, that you can dispose of every day.
any other information that you need, just ask. This forum is the equivalent of...
Agree with Jan 100% on this.
I took both of my chams to the vet for a checkup a few months ago, just to make sure that she thought that they were healthy, had no signs of the dreaded MBD and just to get her opinion that I had their husbandry okay.
I am lucky enough to live 10 miles...
