Veiled is Basking Alot and my Panther is not...Why?

See I am confused. Basking temp in the low 80's and then basking temps at 87 not warm enough? The logic behind fluxlizard's comment makes sense to me, however I am afraid that I will burn him with the basking light if I up the wattage. What would you advise. I was thinking about providing a...

Veiled is Basking Alot and my Panther is not...Why?

I have a 3 month Veiled is the same room as my 2 month panther. I have had my veiled for a month and I have had my panther since 2 weeks after he was born. Dark line around the eyeball

I got my chameleon at 2 weeks old. He is now 2 months old and his eye has developed the same dark ring. If yours is like my panther and has not displayed any strange behavioral changes, I don't think its anything to worry about. Probably just growing into his colors a little bit.

    Translucent-calyptratus?

These are called "Translucent Veileds". FLCham had a bunch of them at Repticon Fire last week and also on their website. The translucency is a genetic characteristic found sparingly, however some people have chosen to breed them as a species variation.

    Should I use a substrate??

There are times I have a harder time keeping my humidity up... when I do I cover the bottom of the cage in a triple layer of paper towels. when you mist the cage the water will be kept in the paper towels, thus keeping the humidity up. This in combination with wrapping your cage with a...

    cricket phobia.

Update: He ate them! After a few hours of starving and hunting like a mad man for flies.... 1/8th crickets, which are a bit bigger than the "rule" for him, where what sparked his interest. Also, the no-cup thing really worked too. After he ate all the crickets Hubble was sitting under...

    cricket phobia.

Thanks! He seems to like it too. haha. That sounds like a good plan. It wont trigger a hunger strike right? Thank you both. I will do so. When he was a little younger I let the pinheads roam around...I actually caught him chasing a cricket...then ignoring it to hunt down a fly. Hopefully...
