its on FL chams safe list ... i have one so i hope its not toxic ...
SPLIT-LEAF PHILODENDRON also CUT-LEAF PHILODENDRON (Monstera deliciosa)
iv never really had a cham that loved to chow on his plants .. so idk could be. I do recall having read some if not most philodendron being toxic...
the leaves are, the fruit "tomato itself" isn't, i believe. So you can feed them tomato's or if theyre just for breeding leaves or whatever you want. i picked a bunch off the tomato plants in my garden to breed.
my veiled is so mean he bites, puffs up, holds his ground, lately he has even started trying to shoot me when he cant get close enough to bite. As if his sticky little tongue is gonna harm me in some way .. strange little beast.
i was totally going to get a waterfall at one point when i first got my cham. I think its because people want to make a Jungle"ish" type environment and for some Disney reason that involves a waterfall :P. But i honestly see a new thread on waterfalls almost every time i get on these forums at...
Nothing wrong with it i hear a lot of people say they use them, but imo its cheaper to just get a ultrasonic humidifier and modify it. It will be cheaper, last longer (probably), and be able to put out more mist the repti fogger will probably be all but unnoticeable in a big screen cage.
if he got natural sunlight (unfiltered by glass or plastic) as you suggested hes prob better off than he would have been in a cage with lights.
You mention cal w D3 and multivit but no mention of plain Cal, should be plain cal every day and D3/multivit alternated once a week, thats 3 supplements.
i think they only eat the Chilean Trevo plant.. But yeah just keep them in the fridge then take a few out before you feed and warm them up. I have never had one bite .. i use them to hand feed they are a great way to get ur little buddies to like you more :p.
looks great! love all the foliage im sure ur cham will love it :p
you should put a thermometer probe in the designated basking spot (wherever is closest to the bulb) to monitor basking temp. Hydrometer can go wherever.
built this for my veiled, 2x3x5 its 8' with the drainage buckets and roach bins underneath
Built the rain system out of an old aquarium pump (an idea i found on this forum :D) He loves it runs for 3 min every 3 hrs.
i used towels on my bottom before i had a drainage system. They didn't get "rank" but they weren't always sopping wet either, i changed them out every 4-5 days smelled fine. If your worried about humidity get a ultrasonic humidifier from Walgreens or something and put it next to or on top of...
they are pretty easy to breed imo takes a lot of patience though
a few sight sponsors have like 1/2" supers
great lakes hornworm (been wanting to try these guys)
mulberry farms
some do turn white ish .. when in there "pajama colors" sleeping. So if your seeing this when hes sleeping its not unusual. a bigger concern is why is he sleeping during the day. you should have the lights on for 12 and off for 12 during which is should be completely dark or close to it so he...
its been said a million times on here, waterfall = bad. They are just a breeding ground for bacteria, chams generally wont drink from them and if they do its just all the more chance they will get sick, go with a dipper and some live plants for humidity.
A household bulb is generally fine for...
I feed mine a junebug now and again, they aren't poisonous or anything .. but as always with WC insects make sure they haven't been exposed to pesticides. Also theres not much to them they almost seem hollow, and tons of chitin so could cause impaction to im thinking .. ur call. I just do it...
that actually looks nice compared to the last time i saw some at petsmart around here .. was like a 1'x1'x1' cage with one little fake plant thing hanging in the corner and a little bowl of water.
at least that has some bio vine things and some drift wood.. and a hydrometer still awful though.
yeah natural sunlight is VERY good for them, the artificial lighting just dosent seem pack the same punch. I read ppl saying a good day of natural sunlight will cure things and greatly improve health. I dont think he would like a leash .. though i have seen it .. just put him on a tree i have...
