Man, after he dropped that duce, he's been crawling all over the cage. He was hanging by his tail from the mister and therm/humidity wires, had 2 feet on the feeder and 2 feet on the screen... Do they get all charged up when they drop a few grams in weight?
So Stewart went poo, on a plant. Will the little critters and crawlies in the bio-substrate climb up the plant to eat the poo? Or do I need to try and wash the plant out to get it to critter-land?
BTW, I do understand it's a little less than ideal, he's been here 1 week and has had a few...
I just started last week, and find myself in a similar situation. Ordered 1/4", crap that won't work, ordered "Medium", ok those work but he likes the big ones maybe, ordered Large, and now I've got enough to open a retail store.
So, as a fellow reefer, I have mucho experience with the Radions and I can tell you unless you are doing a MASSIVE enclosure, it's going to be quite a bit too much light for a cham enclosure. Probably worth more used in the reefing community and then pick up something inexpensive for the cham...
Sorry to threadjack here, but another topic of interest....
If you are trying to win the battle of wills, how long will the cham go until they eat the food they know is there but are ignoring? Or will they just starve themselves? Are there any really early signs that they aren't getting...
I'm a new keeper and struggling with this right now. I want to cup feed, but he doesn't seem to care about them. I've used a cup as well as the feeders with screens, and the latter the bugs just sit on the screens and he's uninterested. On the flipside, free roaming bugs, I've seen him spot...
The key is is acclimation.... We're dealing with an intelligent animal who cost a great deal of money and we don't want to financially be hit or be responsible for a loss of life so we're this way that way and all ways. His breeder did not do a good job of handing off info to me so I don't even...
I have a 22.5" 24 watt T5 with 12% Arcadia bulb. I have about 3 levels he can bask in and went for 3 at the highest spot (which is about 6" from the screen of the cage) and then a value of 1 on the lowest spot. My UVB is about 2-3" raised above the wire shelf. So the actual bulb is probably...
I've toyed with the second light, and seen what you are describing, he seems to them drop down a full foot in the enclosure, putting him outside the UVB range. I do have the ability to put the Jungle Dawn hanging from wire shelf it's on, that would drop it down 2-3 inches and maybe give me...
Is there such thing as too much light? I have measured my UVB at several locations where he can hang out, and I'm good there, but I'd like to add more LED for my plants and frankly personal viewing pleasure. My main LED is the Arcadia Jungle Dawn 34 watt LED. It's about 4" off the top screen...
I'm a newb. I read various sites for a few months before deciding to go "bioactive". I must agree with the sentiment that the marketing is "self cleaning" and maybe that's where my ignorance took me. I also look at it like a big potted plant in the bottom, again through ignorance. I now...
I've had him for less than 3 days so I don't know if it's normal for him, normal for Chameleons, or fatigue on the trip here and acclimating to new environment?
