What incubator has the highest success rate?

Home made built out of a old fridge using heat cable and controlled by a herpstat. But when we first started we used a hovabator with success.

    Feeding with Calcium powder w/d3

3/4"? That's a pretty small Cham to have purchased. Or is it 3 to 4 inches? What specie is the Cham? Yes that is to much D3, D3 should be given twice a month, and I wouldn't recommend meal worms, there exoskeleton made of chitin is very hard, and very hard for a Cham to digest. We don't even...

Comment by 'crazychamzoo' in 'My Research Blog 2: Plants'

I should elaborate a little more, we do switch the Hibiscus plants out between our outdoor and indoor enclosures, this may be why we haven't had a problem. We do this to clean the plants off from our indoor enclosures, it's quite possible there exposure to the UVB and UVA have nothing to do with...

sticks for multiple levels of basking?

The whole selling the branches thing really mind boggles me, lol, nothing against Ed, but I would rather be the crazy guy at the city park with a hacksaw. And yes, light bleach rinse, then wash, and finally bake, works great. Oh, and I'm going to check out the bamboo at the Depot, sounds likes...

I finally have my first cham, and LOTS of questions !!

He almost looks like a cross between a Ambilobe and a Faly to me, regardless he is beautiful.

    Favorite Panther Locale?

Love the high whites of any local, but I have to say I love all the locals, we currently only work with the Ambanja, Ambilobe, Nosy Be, and Nosy Faly locales but I'm fascinated by all Panthers. Ok, I admit I'm addicted to Panther Chams, whoa! Got that off my back, lol, what not to love about...

    How many dubias?

Agreed, just let him go to town on the little buggers, lol, it's surprising how much they can eat when they are young.

    Butterworms

You can get them fairly small online, our panthers and Veileds love them, but they are only used as special treat and not on the regular feed rotation.

    New Chameleon Owner

We use hibiscus in all enclosures, both Veiled and Panther, the Veiled Chams eat the leaves, usually just the females though for what ever reason, but they seem to love them and have never had a problem. I have not heard of Ficus being poisonous for Chameleons, I know a lot of Cham owners use...

    New Chameleon Owner

I would keep the meal worms as a treat only, they are certainly not the best feeder, harder to digest. I would say no more than one a day if that. You should look into switching to silkworms, a good variety would be crickets as the main staple with Dubai roaches, silkworms, horned worms, wax...

Breeder question on the age you sell your chameleons

Unfortunately you are correct about the buyers that support the sale of the young chams, mostly lack of research and understanding, and hugely on price, they want the deal and don't understand the money it takes to bring up a clutch in good health, and to insure in time that the Cham gets the...

    Acting like he wants OUT!

I have been bite by our Veiled's a number of times, it has only drawn blood once. I think a leopard geckos bite is worse. Our guys are very territorial, and most of the time we open the cage and let them venture out on there own and then approach, but when we have to get them out by hand for...

    Poison exposure question

From what I understand the skin will take in water for it's own moisture and hydration, but it will not "absorb" moisture into the body for hydrating the chameleons body. So Im assuming this would act much in the same way with the absorption of the cleaner and the chameleon shouldn't experience...

    ambanja/sambava X nosy be mix

Felix is beautiful! Typical Ambanja look (bars a little different) but with red rain, awesome! It's going to be interesting to see how this little guy colors out with his Ambanja and Nose Be traits

    heat bulb advice

Not to be rude, it was simple a suggestion to create a temperature gradient within the enclosure based upon your ambient constant of 85-90 in the entire house. Sorry you took it any other way!

    heat bulb advice

Chameleons need a good proper temperature gradient within the cage. They need the warmth of the basking light to warm up from a cool night. They need the warmth for proper digestion. I'm not sure of the availible plants in Romainia, Schefflera, Pothos and Hibiscus are all good non-toxic plants...
