It looks alright to me. I would like to add that my cham didn't stay green for quite some time when I got him(I made a thread about it at the time). They're stressed, scared and confused. If he's still brown mostly 2 weeks from now, then you have a problem.
What are the basking temperatures?
I can say, at least at the PetSmart I work at, the Chameleons we receive *do* receive supplemental Vitamins, UVB, plenty of sprayed water and plants to climb/hide in. It has to stay in glass, but I damn well make sure they get ventilation the best I can(and I don't let people handle it). I'll...
I've *never* seen my Cham drink and he's been with me for almost 3 months now. So long as he acts healthy, eats well, poops and does other chameleon behavior, I don't particularly think this is a problem. Peculiar, sure, but not a problem.
I don't think he'll go for the stick, but it's an idea! Thanks, I was leaning that way myself and just wanted to be sure. Mostly I think he's gonna say, "You know where you can stick that stick...." :p
Veiled's have *too* much personality. :)
I plan on adding a considerable amount--2 new branches, and 2 new fake plants--to my Chameleon's enclosure. What would be the least stressful way to do this? He *really* doesn't like me being near him, and I've only handled him twice in the two months I've owned him(he wants space, so I'm giving...
I can say that I was *very* worried about the same thing with my Cham at that age. He ate and ate and ate and ate and ate but still looked so "ribby". Now, after about 6 months of just inhaling crickets and worms, he's starting to get chunky. Your baby looks good to me from my, albeit limited...
How big is your Panther? If he's relatively young, I'd say Phoenix worms are good. My veiled *loves* the phoenix worms. I vouch for them, and I'm sure others can help you on other feeder choices. :)
Edit: I order my Phoenix worms from Mulberry.
I do order them. At first I didn't, but then it quickly became apparent how much these guys eat. Where do they put it?! :D
I'll try my best with this guy. He knows when I feed him and he's not scared them(more like staring patiently). And I think he's calming down a bit. We'll see, I suppose...
There's the little guy(he sucks in his belly when I see him or try to take pictures--he's so fat when he's sleeping or I sneak up on him. He eats like a pig all the time[I put in 20 crickets a day, and he eats at least 10]. Maybe doubled in size since I got him last month! Spray him 3 times a...
My guy has been doing very well since I've had him; eating well, pooping good and drinking like nothing else. However, last night I saw him sleeping in a different spot(the top screen of his cage). It was adorable, so I didn't think anything of it. However, today he has been wandering around the...
Crickets are crickets for the most part(the differences are going to be largely negligible). Jann *is* right about removing them; I had a Lizard when I was (much) younger and the crickets did bite him hard enough to break the scales.
I can say, as a Petsmart employee, that certain employees are very lax about the business. I *always* make sure the crickets are cleaned daily, fed enriched food and given access to gel water. My co-workers aren't always the best(understatement), but I make sure that the animals--especially the...
I ordered small phoenix worms, medium silk worms(they said they were on the "small side") and then some smaller 3/8'' crickets(despite working in a pet store, finding good size crickets for my cham is hard!)
I'll update as necessary. Thanks everyone.
Okay, I'll order a cup of small and medium worms. What size silk worms would be good?
Also, I think the crickets I've been giving--and he's been eating--are larger than those most people mean. I mean, he doesn't look as skinny as when I got him so he can't be doing terrible. How large should...
I've moved the crickets to a cup now and we'll see how he goes for it. It's within site of his basking perch.
With Phoenix worms, do you think small or medium would be good? I'd say he's close to 4 inches long. Medium looks good.
What are calci worms? I went to Mulberry, and I found no such thing on their site.
I'll try and get a picture of him today or tomorrow so people can see if he looks too skinny(I've looked at other chams via google and he looks close to those, but maybe a bit peckish). I'll see what I can do...
Grasshoppers aren't naturally toxic in the greater Midwest. I live in Michigan, and I know of no such hopper like that in our area. As long as you're sure there are no pesticides, I think it would be fine.
My little guy is doing pretty good I think. Last week, I made a (perhaps too nervous) thread where I was worried sick about him being brown all the time. Well, that's no longer a problem! He's bright green nearly all the time and is pretty active in his cage(he went brown once, but I think my...
