she's a beauty, they all are! are you going to breed them again? it would be a shame not to... such great looking veileds, they have so much color you'd sware they crossed with panthers!
That is a very cool and unique colored boy there, carpets seem very cool (from the pics and info I've read on them.) Only drawback is there short lifespan, if you go that route I'd be sure and go for cb and try to get a pretty young one.
Some veileds can be very colorful too (I like the...
It depends on the chameleon, my panther will often come to me wanting a ride, however my jacksons is very shy and will try to hide behind a branch when I put my hand in his cage (and sometimes when I'm just looking at him outside his cage)
So I only handle the jacksons when I MUST, the...
take lots of pics, they grow fast! I've never heard of withholding lights, food or water for a new addition... As others have said he may not eat for a day or 2, but I'd still offer it , and water and lights for sure.
That advice sounds suspect and pet stores often are clueless about...
I wouldn't, I know at lest the fruit baby food is petty lacking nutritionally (why I don't feed it to my crested gecko), most processed food is less nutritional than fresh and may also have additives and preservatives, so the fresher the better (for yourself and animals)
Just my 2 cents
Might could modify paint pans and glue in hose bibs and drain hoses on the "low side".
Or find a shallow container (or cut down a deep one) and block one end up and put you're drain on the low end.
So far I've just been buying mine, most places it's fairly cheap if you fill your own bottle. But if I wasn't traveling I would probably invest in a RO system.
there are a lot of people here that do have them, so hopefully
Someone will have some info for you.
I posted my traveling chameleon room but the update pics kinda got buried on page 2.
it's a 7' x 7 1/2' bedroom in a travel trailer converted to a cham room, here's pics of my panthers free range, I also have my jacksons in a cage (not pictured) and room for a 2nd cage (with some...
I have my reservoir below my pump and it does fine once it's primed, I do use RO water now because tap water clogged my nozzles/zip drip valve.
Have you cleaned the zip drip valve (or even tried it with out it )? Also try priming it.
Here's a update, it's not "finished" but then again what free range/ cage ever is?

I couldn't figure out a good way to mount his lights so I used a metal/wire shelf, with out the two mid shelves. Which worked better...
I've been doing the same thing setup/ remodeling my free range. It's hard to tell from the pic how close that hanging plant is but if there is even a chance he could stretch and reach it I would move it, those mvb bulbs are HOT. What are you doing for water (hand mist, dripper, auto mister?) Or...
From what I hear meal worms aren't very good for chameleons, they have a hard exoskeleton (skin), and not a lot of "meat". You could try small or medium sized super worms, they sorta look like meal worms but they have more "meat" and you can (and should) gut load them the same as crickets.
If...
Happy birthday, I wouldn't have guessed you at 17. not that being 17 is bad, your post just don't seem like the typical 17 year old (then again I guess the typical 17 year old isn't into chams)
Your only as old as you feel.....
..... I guess your old ;-p
I spot clean daily, then full clean once to twice monthly. Yeah it's a bit of a chore but good preventive maintainance.
I think the feeder bens require more cleaning than the chameleon cade cages!
I've heard some bad things about the zilla brand uvb lights as well, imo go with repti-sun 5.0 or repti-glo 5.0 tube style.
Also if the weather is good nothing beats real sun (just make sure and watch close any time you take him out side)
Thanks, I wasn't even looking for a background but it caught my eye while I was shopping for supplies and I had to have it.
The front window has a "shutter" so I glued the part I cut out to the inside of the shutter, but the window and shutter still open if I want to let in real light and...
got alittle more done, the "base" is all done. every thing drains into the "shower base" then out a trap door. all thats left is putting in the cage(s), trees, lights and mistking.
I'll have one 18x18x36 cage setting in the shower base, with room for a 2nd 24x24x48. around that in a L shape...
... or hatch out a praying mantis egg/cocoon, I hear baby praying mantis eat aphids.
Half way kidding, tho I'd love to have some mantis myself (for pets and enrichment feeders) that would probably be a slow way to deal with your aphids
