i found springtail flies here: http://www.thelivefoodwarehouse.co.uk/acatalog/Springtail_Flies.html but i've not tried them yet, i think they're a bit bigger than fruit flies but still quite small

well i've ordered some "small" locusts but i'm not sure if they'll be small enough. i'm not suprised he's bored of crickets, but what else could i use? i'm from the uk so there isn't as much readily availble. it's mealworms, locusts, crickets or fruit/springtail flies mostly i haven't seen...

if you can afford aluminium/steel mesh that shouldn't break, that's what i've used with no problems. 3 wooden sides will work if you can provide enough ventillation for the viv to dry out after misting etc, maybe put a mesh side at the bottom for more air flow where the water collects - unless...

don't feed him too many wax worms, they sometimes refuse food when they have too many as they get 'addicted' to them

he looks just like my ambilobe, which is (supposedly) a male

this is my little ambilobe, he's about 3.5 months old and i'm assured he's male but take a look:

man i hope my little guy grows up to look like him! he's awesome

yeah i was waiting for a call back from the vet and booked an appointment when they rang, i was just hoping someone knew what was wrong or had any recommendations of how i can look after him until the appointment

update: he has been basking almost all day and is quite dark in colour. has been drinking and seems very alert. he has made the popping noise a few times when i'm around but not as often - though it is still happening. he has only had 1 cricket to eat (that i know of), i'm only offering...

yeah he was only holding his head up for about 5 minutes then continued to bask. he had a big drink and the pops seemed to grow further and further apart but i'm going to check on him in the morning and if there's still a problem i'll be consulting a vet, i will probably ring a few anyway just...

i use warm water and never spray directly onto him

everything seems normal apart from the occasional pop, he's just sitting still at the moment

yeah, the probe for my thermometer is directly under the bulb at the highest point and the bulb itself is about 5/6 inches above the mesh. its the first time he's been up there though

they're #2's but there have been some more like 3's in there. but breeder i got him from said to use 2's or 3's

mouth looks normal, no mucus (other than throwing up earlier) the popping only started after the throw up he is now sitting with his head held up really high, tilted back (not on the mesh at the top any more but under the basking lamp) he also did a poop which looks normal

what would be the first signs of a RI? he isn't gaping but i've seen him open his mouth to let a tiny pop come out a few times in the last 10 minutes

basking temp is 82-83 which is about 10 inches below the mesh at the top surely it isn't normal for them to throw up?
