He hasnt really gone in a while or atleast to where I have seen in within the time I need to take it to the vets in (mostly just urea from not eating).
I am hoping the bug juice will aid in getting some good ones out soon and I will rush it over to the vets for sure. I should probably give...
Just an update. Peppers has been fed some bug juice. My mixture is:
About 2 Tablespoons Pedialite
10 blue bottles
7 Meal worms
4 Fully Grown Feeder Crickets
1 teaspoon calcium supplement
1/2 teaspoon calcium with D3
1/2 teaspoon vitamin supplement
pinch of bee pollen
I got about six...
Thanks for the input guys. I took Peppers to the vets today and unfortunately the vet recommended very little. Over the phone I was told she was an exotics specialist (and I specifically asked about reptiles) but when I got there she told me she didn't specialize in reptiles reptiles and knew...
Thank you very much for the input. I tried to avoid feeding him too many at one time and he was pooping a decent amount, but he hasn't been pooping much recently and this may be the problem...
I was considering a bath as well but I figured I would wait for a little bit of advice before I...
Hello everyone, recently I have been having a bit of trouble with my Senegal Peppers. He has slowly gotten worse and worse and this week he has started to really concern me. I was worried before, but I was told that he was probably just getting burnt out on crickets.
* Your Chameleon -...
If they are too big, they pop off as he is eating the cricket. I have started removing the second part of the jumping legs if its a bigger bug just for safety reasons. Some back legs have a few barbs, so I try to play it safe. He gets katydids some times as well and I do the same thing.
Thanks for the info everyone! I will definitely look into the blue bottle flies. I have a bit of an aversion to maggots, but I figure I can deal with them for Peppers. Do you know if Mantis Place irradiates their feeders? I haven't seen any who have, but I guess its always something to look into...
So my cham has started to only take a few feeder crickets per day... I think he is getting burnt out,but during this season I encounter an invasion. Cave Crickets love to take over my basement around this time of year when it starts getting cold.
Since I have a chameleon, I have been catching...
I got a mason jar and rubber banded a screen over the top. You might use something that's not clear because I originally had my cham trying to drink through the glass... felt bad, but then he decided he wasn't going to get that water and kept on moving.
If you take a picture of the fern, you could probably get an identification from someone here. There are a lot of plant pros here. Or at least they seem to know a lot about plants:p
I was was given a recommendation for moving my cham during the cold months in case I had to make a vet visit. I don't remember who said it, it was a respected forum goer though. They said to use either a decent sized Tupperware or box and line it with a cloth or towel, drape it over the cham and...
You might want to pick up a few more plants. It may be that he's not got enough hiding spaces.
Some times they go on hunger strikes. I would recommend just offering him some crickets every day at about 11 or 12 days I would start getting worried. A cham's metabolism can last him/her several...
There was a topic on not too long ago asking about Boston Ferns and I had always thought they were dangerous, but after doing a little research I found out that they are not.
Hopefully it is a non-toxic species. I would be careful if you cham is munch'in on the green though. You should be ok...
Yeah, I hate that I have to keep Peppers in all the time now. I haven't taken him outside for a while now. I'm kind of hoping to maybe get one more decent, sunny day before the snow hits.
Nice shots by the way! Your chams look like they are enjoying themselves.
Chameleons seem to enjoy drinking in private. Mine only drinks while I'm around if I offer him water from a pipette.
On the topic of spraying, I have asked around and the consensus was that there really isn't a wrong way to do it. Many chams will not like to be sprayed, but from time to time...
I had always thought Bostons were poisonous, but the interweb says otherwise. I like schefflera and I think they are supposed to be pretty tolerant to just about anything. You can buy small ones at Walmart as well.
There are a lot of good ones out there. A little search on the forums will...
I just bought one off of eBay not too long ago. You can buy just an every day ultrasonic air humidifier and then add some tubing or hosing to it to channel the fog into the enclosure. Just make sure you get one that's got a strong fan in it. I had to improvise and stack a whole bunch of stuff on...
A space heater works well, but you will need to compensate humidity with either a humidifier or more sprayings. You can use a portable oil filled radiator and it wont kill the humidity levels, plus you can place a container of water on top of it to allow for added humidity in the form of...
