No it wasnt his first time outside. I would take him out on weekends on walks. He wasnt stressed at all either. he was the Calmest Chameleon ive ever seen. I could walk with him to the market and he would never flare up, never hiss, never bite. Kids would pet him and he never even flinched...
I just got a call from the vet.
Clarence passed away.
I can't believe this. I am devastated. He was my most prised possession. I did everything for this cham.
3 hours and he's gone.
I can't believe it.
Yea no reflections or anything like that. I'm just praying he makes it through the night at the vet. My female who was 15 away in her cage is perfectly fine. But not Clarence.
When I say covered the top half.
I should of said covered half of the top half. So like right down the middle of the cage that hung over the side. So if you were looking at it half of the top allowed for sun to come in and the other half didn't.
Obviously though, I did something incorrect.
Ok everyone. So yea it was heat stroke for sure. I got up at 630 and raced over here to check on him. His color is slightly back to normal. Just not as quite there. I took him out. His grip is back and I have a way to have him drink right out of the spray bottle. So he drank a good 10 or so...
Reading another Thread it is heat stroke... I cant believe this happened / I did this. It was only 81 and I had half the cage shaded, and showered his whole cage before I left..
Please make it through the night clarence...
I cant say if he was bit by anything. I had his cage locked. But he doesnt look well at all. When I was holding him, he was only holding me with 2 hands very lightly. Tail was damn near limp. I hope in the morning he is alive and will eat and be his bright blue again... But I am freaking out.
Ive been using the large cricket keeper for a year or so now and I havent had any escapees.
I take a tube out, dump it into a large cup where I dust them, then right into the cage.. No escapees. Maybe they are coming from a different place.
Hey Everyone. I am writing this very scared that something really bad has happened to my Male Nosy Be Clarence.
Today I moved apartments. In my new place I have built him a new custom cage which is way bigger then his 2x2x4. So while I was making trips back and forth I had his cage in my...
Hey everyone. I am beyond angry right now so forgive me if I dont make the best sense.
I bought this Reptipro 6000 incubator 2 months ago to keep my Nosybe clutch of 28 eggs around the proper temps. I dont have central air so my APT gets hot in the summer, 80-90 easy and I know that wouldnt...
Thanks for the update pigglett79. Since cutting back on the dusting I havent really seen much improvement in Clarence either. He has better days then others, but its still defiantly there.
Thanks!
This was done with a Go Pro 2. Taking a photo every 30 seconds, using Those photos as an image sequence. And pulling a 1920x1080 Video out of that.
Sounds like a plan. Im just getting big jugs of water, but in the long run I think thats going to get pricy. So Keep me posted on how your filter works and maybe we can get this figured out.
Thanks for all the nice Comments.
He is the Sire and yes I do have some more. I have some more on my Camera at home that I can load up also.
Clarence at 14months or so
Here is an older one of him at 12 months.
I didnt think he could get any bluer then he was at 16 months. But he showed me up on that the other day outside.
"Just when I think you couldnt get any bluer, you go and do something like this..... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!" hahahaha
Currently I also have 29 of his babies...
Speaking with a Vet who came recommended. She said that there is no way its too much Vit A, unless I was literally giving him injections, and his multi every day, which I am not.
Speaking to another keeper, he pointed out that it usually has to do with Tap water. Anyone else on this thread...
