They don't have to hang, and they do get very viney as they grow.
What about something like Tradescantia (Wandering Jew)? Not sure if it's 100% safe or not.

You can only do what you can do, but this is why everyone recommends reading up and preparing for a new cham before you actually get one! :) Just try and get him in the proper enclosure with proper lighting as soon as you can.
Also being in Lake Mary you have the benefit of the Florida weather...
Just leave it in the box and take it back in the morning. He will be fine for one night. As long as you removed the compact light, but you need to take him out of that enclosure and get him the proper light sooner then later.

Gonna need some more info on the type of cage you are using and your setup. Can you post photos or explain in detail the housing for your cham? Substrate should be avoided no matter the type if at all possible.
Yea, I agree that the chance for a problem is low, but there is still that chance. I will probably stick with the thicker/safer #4 containers.

Yea especially in Florida. Our humidity is so high there is absolutely no need for all glass enclosure. Switch it up to screen. and add a nice pothos or another safe plant to give him some more cover. Check out some of the enclosures here to get a good idea of what you need.
