    Chameleon health questions

IMHO I think 5 crickets a day is not enough at that age. He is still growing and needs more food. 12X12X18 is too small for a veiled. You're going to need something at least 48 tall. Supplements should be calcium w/o d3 every feeding, calcium with d3 twice a month, and a multi vitamin twice a...

    Regular Bulb

50 watt may be too much then. The basking spot for a baby veiled should be around 82 and the rest of the cage around 75.

Hi guys need some help with handling my baby veiled chameleon

Even if you do eventually get him to tolerate some handling, don't be surprised if it changes when he gets to around 5-6 months old. I noticed you had some type of wood chips on the bottom of your enclosure. This is not a good idea. He could ingest some while eating and this could cause him...

    A quick question!

Wrong. Over supplementing can lead to gout and other problems.

What is your natural disaster preparations?

I love how people that have never experienced a real disaster try to minimize the hype. Look up pictures of LI after Gloria in 1985. I was there and it was a mess. That is nothing compared to what Katrina did to the gulf coast. If you think its no big deal, why don't you come hang out at my...

What is your natural disaster preparations?

I'm going to buy a weeks worth of crickets and I already have plenty of bottled water. I'm not too worried about temps as the weather here should be in the acceptable range. I think we'll be OK.

    black chameleon

Is the entire cage mid to high 90's? It looks like you have 2 or 3 lights (not counting the UV) over the cage. I try to keep 1 corner of the cage in the 80-85 range and the rest of the cage cooler so he can cool down or heat up if he wants. It could be related to the other problem you posted...

    free range.crickets

Mine are almost always towards the middle and top as well. They do go to the bottom but not often.

    Standard compact use

A lot of people use other bulbs to help their plants. I haven't heard about any problems. The bulbs cannot replace the UVB bulb as they do not put out the required amount of UVB.

    Few questions

I mist 4 to 5 times a day for a few minutes each time. I also use a dripper. I've only seen him drinking a few times but his urates are always bright white so he's getting enough water.

    black chameleon

Isn't mid to high 90's too high for a veiled? Everything I have read says the basking temp should be around 82.

    Few questions

Baby veiled's will eat 10-20 appropriately sized crickets per day. The cricket should be no bigger than the distance between it's eyes. Mine was up to around 30 1/4 inch a day before I moved up to the next size. I got mine at around 2 months and it has been in a 2 X 1.5 X 2.5 cage since I...

    Mounting Dowels in Enclosure?

I used small screw eyes or hook eyes on each end of the dowel. Then I used small zip ties to attach them to the screen.

Need help! experianced cham owners come !

What type of UVB bulb and what rating? Why 2 UVA lights? They're really not needed. The worms are not too nutritious for them, especially if they are not gut loaded. Most only use them as a snack. Sleeping during the day is usually not a good sign. It could be the lights, vitamin...
