Forgive me if I lose track - is this a retained clutch from the Malachite x Alba mating, or a genetically distinct bunch (I know you had some incubating from Dresden, but don't remember the dates)? - Either way, congrats!
Could you please tell me the exact Repashy product you're using? - I would like to experiment with it, but am finding myself confused by the profusion of products (Calcium Plus; SuperCal NoD, LoD, MeD, HyD; Supervite). Much thanks.
I would second Jann on the bloodwork if your vet is (and feels) competent to do it - my last vet was huge on bloodwork and it never seemed to bother the chams a bit - and he was able to detect things like incipient liver and kidney damage. My current vet has little chameleon experience and does...
Handsome fellow! FYI, I take my chameleons out when it's sunny and warm enough for me to sit in the sun without a jacket, which equates to ~ 55 and above. Mid to high 60's certainly isn't too cold for a panther cham to be outside for an hour or two.
Welcome! Forum member chams1 (Windy City Chameleons) does some breeding, though I don't know that she has Nosy Be's; hopefully she'll see this thread and reply, but if not you might send her a message, and she might be able to tell you what she has, and about local shows and any other breeders...
Sometimes they'll shoot for water. How long are you misting? I find it usually takes 5-10 minutes - the first couple minutes just for the chameleon to figure out what's going on, remember that this is water and that you're supposed to drink it, etc.
Jann, we are certainly keeping Camille (and everybody else) in our thoughts and prayers. It sounds like if you do have to have her spayed you have the most competent person possible, and like it's a lot more hopeful than the other options had been; Luie's prognosis also sounds quite good; much...
Laurie, there's a 100 watt UV-B mercury vapor caged at the top of the Condo, surrounded by a tube that serves as water reservoir/drip system. The mercury vapors provide both UV-B and heat and, except for pygmeleons, they're all I've ever used.
I think we need to realize that PetSmart, PetCo and others are franchises - due to the chance mix of people running and working in a given place, they're going to differ from store to store. I certainly can't justify a care sheet that says to keep baby veileds at 95 degrees, but I think there's...
So, after my last two "serious bummer" threads, it's high time I posted something upbeat... This morning I received deBary, a 15 month old Sambava holdback from Kilgour's Chameleons. My photo is grainy, because I didn't want to shoot off a flash at him, but give you some idea; a much better...
I feel just awful doing this twice in one week. Some of you know that my female veiled, Beatrix, escaped while outside on Labor Day weekend. She was in a small tree, I was sitting by her, I went around to look when she disappeared from view, she apparently went one way while I was looking the...
Blue boy Professor McGinty (male Ambanja panther) died on Tuesday, at 22-23 months old. He had had a variety of health issues, and had gone back and forth in his willingness to take live prey (when he wouldn't, he was relatively willing to accept a liquid diet). Gross necropsy revealed a greatly...
