When I first started researching Chameleons, I really wanted a Carpet! After a few months of research, I concluded that my dream wouldn't become a reality for quite a while, since no one anywhere close to even shipping distance (that I could find anyways) sold carpets! Turns out it was a good...
This is something I built for my baby (veiled), and I'm not sure much bigger panther chameleons are, but I'm sure you can adapt the idea. Hurrah for University student budget!
Two very large planter pot water catcher things (what are they called, really?) or other domed circular large things...
Im glad mine isn't the only one! He barely climbs on it - and yet it is the best thing to hide in because I can never find him when he does! I wonder if theres nutritional value to it or they just get bored? :P Mine doesn't seem to eat it much!
Would one plant be enough for an outside cage or would you do the whole set up (minus the lamps obviously) outside? My deck really isn't that large! He definitely did seem way better being outside!
Another worry I have is that there are wasps outside - obviously I wouldn't feed these...
Its better to keep him near the cage. Its his safety net. He will be more on edge if its out of sight. Honestly, I'd say start over. Treat it like you just got him. Give him 2-3 weeks without trying to handle him at all. At least one week without even trying to hand feed him, just put food/water...
How do you handle him? If you pick him up from above, you are marking yourself as a predator, so of course he wants to get away from you/will be aggressive! Try checking out this link: http://screameleons.com/how-to-handle-your-chameleon-properly/
Hope that helps! :) All chameleons are...
So I've had my Veiled for about a month now and have socialized him enough that he is okay being coaxed out of his set up and onto a bungee cord/rope (he doesn't like being on me for extended periods of time). Since he was doing so well, and it is a gorgeous sunny day out, I decided to take him...
Im no expert, but I was always told to leave them be for 2-3 weeks before handling. I would try to get him used to being handled right next to his cage first for 5 minute segments once a week, then putting him back, and repeating the next week. After he becomes tolerant of this, you can begin...
Im no expert, but I was always told to leave them be for 2-3 weeks before handling. And carrying him all the way outside takes him away from the one familiar thing he has: his set up. I would try to get him used to being handled right next to his cage first for 5 minute segments once a week...
So the general ratio that I have been going by is feeding Juvenile veileds 6-12 months of age 5-6 medium crickets every day. (Split the normal 10-12 crickets every other day into a feeding every day to go with my routine of my other animals).

Small changes, but changes none the less!
I've drawn up a design for a very minor enclosure (he will still be able to extend beyond the borders, but it will eliminate the need for the light stand which has caused so many annoyances!) It'll be 4ft high, which, on top of the dresser, will be the...
What an amazing source of information! I will be printing this off, highlighting it and taping it next to my Veiled's set up for reference! Thank you very much!
I was wondering if you might be willing to debunk or confirm something I found in my own research. There are certain people who...
My 8mo veiled refuses to eat any type of insect that has been dusted with calcium (from heavily dusted, to minorly dusted, to barely not dusted at all) but I'm worried about his Calcium intake. I have to give a variety of things to gutload the crickets/superworms, and he gets hornworms as...
Im no expert... but they are a territorial species. Maybe he needs to murder the "other" chameleon, and make sure he isn't in his space. Reflections in glass are known to stress them out... so no doubt a mirror would do the same. I wouldn't encourage this at all. :S
