I had something similar happen to me, too. I think it was a 2nd clutch from one mating and after about a month or so, all (I thought) had sunken and just plain looked bad. I didn't throw them out, but did take them out of the incubator and they were just sitting on a shelf in the chameleon...
You should read Julirs post on pygmies - Pyglets Cuteness ad nauseum (don't konw how to link it, you can find it in the search by username). She goes into detail about her trial and errors on habitats.
Yes, stay away from the compacts. Too much chance of blinding your chams. I'm sure you can find plenty of posts about it if you search the forums.
I use the Reptisun 5.0. They are a little better quality than the Reptiglo. I saw a spectrum anaysis on here somewhere.
I don't know...
I just read all 11 pages of this post. First time I've seen it. I think the winning post has to go to FateX for mutant chameleon lab idea. Hilarious.
I personally don't happen to think the "morph" is attractive, same for translucents, but understand their attractiveness to others as...
Some very experienced keepers I know cycle their times with what is their chams natural environment i.e. Madagascar times for panthers, etc. Maybe that's going a little overboard unless your talking first generation WC chams.
In my experience, I've seen that somehow the chams know the...
The timer you're looking at is fine. Realisticly you're only looking at 2 or 3 events a day. I didn't look that close, but one with a battery backup is helpful if your power ever goes out (especially when you're on vacation and a friend is taking care of your pets). You can get similar timers...
Eating soil can indicate that they are lacking some nutrient and are trying to get it from the soil. In general it won't hurt, but there is the risk of eating something like a twig or clod that could cause a bowel obstruction.
You should get some trace mineral supplements like Reptivite or...
I've noticed some of that myself. I read somewhere on here that chameleons only have so much digestive juice in them at a given time. We all know young ones are pigs and will pretty much eat as much as you can give them. Doesn't mean you should. Could lead to some of the things you...
The life span of a cricket is about 2 months. You're going to have die off no matter how many you get. The trick is to try to keep their area clean. And remember, what your cricket eats, your cham eats, so make sure a feed and hydrate the crickets.
You always worry this much as a cham owner.
The time between sheds gets progressively longer. At first, they're shedding every couple weeks, then once a month, every couple of months and so on.
30 crickets a day seems excessive to me, unless they are really small. At 6 months they...
I have an adult male veiled that is a screen nut. He's always running around on the front and sides and will try to crawl out on me if I open the cage and just stand there.
But take Chambabysitter's advice and assess your setup and relative cham health to make sure there isn't something that...
A couple of the Xerxes babies are gone, but I have a few more. All of Baltazar's offspring are still available and a couple of the males are getting up to juvenile sized - about 7" total length.
$85 each shipped, or I can do an unrelated pair (I have a more Balti males and Xerxes females)...
I have a few baby veileds from Baltazar and Xerxes available. They are about 3 1/2 months old now. Baltazar is the son of the Kammer's Emperor Ming and this is his first clutch. Each are $40 plus shipping.
Here's some photos:
