This guy was sold to me as a blue barred ambanja. When I look at him, I do see ambanja, but someone has been telling me its Nosybe.
what are your thoughts (this is the relaxed coloration)
As Im reading this I can hear at least 3 different crickets calling.
I turn a fan on in my room, that noise drowns out the crickets and I find it soothing.
As for catching them, those scented glue traps should work (they do for me).
sure signs its time to retire your breeder females
Im curious what you guys look for.
For me I retire my females after 6 clutches, but Im hearing others say they can get more.
when mixing vermiculite and water I find an equal 1:1 weight ration works great.
As for too dry....
Last time I dug out eggs I must have missed a couple. Three months later and a container of completely dry dirt (well sand and potting soil) I found two fertilized eggs, in perfect shape (no...
I introduce the cup feeding concept to my hatchlings so they are well trained when the move on to other homes.
I use minigo yogurt cups with a wooden skewer punctured through it. The perch/cup (full with pinheads) sits directly underneath the heat lamps so for the most part every hatchling...
I didnt want to hijack the Cup Feeder thread so I figured a new thread was warranted.
How many people utilize plastic milk jug feeders (with the sides cut out and replaced with fiberglass screening).
I find it keeps the crickets in and for those chams that wont eat out of cups, they still...
@450 Euro I will take a few....
nice animals (my favorite chameleons.....the reason I got into chameleons....)
Who produced and or sold these animals???
silkies can be very easy if you do it right.
For example.
I bought 1000 eggs, fed off as many as I could and was left with 200 or so large silkies that cocooned. Most of those fully transformed and went on to breed. After three months I was having a good hatch rate on the eggs.
It is...
I run a misting system over my guys twice a day at 1 hour intervals and then 4 other times a day at 3 minute intervals (to keep humidity up).
One thing I can say from experience is that my chams can just sit underneath the misting nossles and not drink. When I bring out the manual mister...
yes, that male was my biggest heart break.
When I first got into this I bought WC (Im trying my hardest not to swear here)... I absolutely loved this guy, more than that sambava. He was the first to acclimate, he bred very well...but that F&&**** b*** of a vet double dosed his meds (on a...
Its an easy mistake to make.......first time I saw the sire to these guys I said the same thing......then I was reassured it was ambanja (when it cooled down it was more evident).
sorry to disappoint but they are ambanja (high blues)....yep up here in Canada.
Male one and two are brothers from the same clutch... first pic was when the male was about to get lucky...... second male is backup (doesnt really respond to females but oddly enough bobs when I walk by......weird)
My view on the panther market in Canada is that there appears (not saying there is) to be more panthers available than in the past. I have purchased my panthers from the only person I really trust up here in the great north and I have been doing business with her for 5 years.
For the longest...
Thanks for the response.
Its strange because my system for preparing every clutch is exactly the same (from containers to water:vermiculite ratio to temp).
Everything was treated the exact same and these eggs are now 10months 4 days out of the female.
Guess I will see what happens with...
I figured I should also mention.
I wait 3 days (the eggs starting to colapse) before opening them up. There seems to be more yolk remaining than the other two clutches, but then again its not as if the material has had the chance to be exposed to air long enough to evaporate/or get used up.
Hey everyone.
I had three clutches (three different females matings spaced 2 weeks apart). The second and third clutches hatched out just fine. The first one is proving to be problematic.
It appears that the eggs will sweat like normal but no slitting and emergence. When I opened up the...
