Be warned though that the 10.0 puts out a very unsightly bluish light that doesn't really show the true colors of the animal too well. I brought it back the day after as I couldn't stand the weird color which I noticed the moment I switched it on. You might not mind the color but ask the person...
Here's a little business idea for those of who with unlimited access to mass amounts of fresh leaves/trees. You could probably actually make some money with this if it does infact end up working.
Go grab a bunch of leaves, stick them into one of these http://www.excaliburdehydrator.com/ ...
I absolutely agree about the psychological benefit or well being that a properly light cage must provide. The euros have that part covered pretty good. Seems that double ended metal halide in a projector style lamp is the way to go. For some reason they appear very readily available over there...
nice, I'm still waiting to see if an egg cluster laid by a big female I caught will ever hatch. The damp sand is for them to lay in, right? Do you need to keep spraying it to keep it fairly damp during incubation? also is it normal for the female to die shortly after laying? mine was just laying...

two other threads like this one by you where people also gave you links to systems in the uk, take all these links and throw them in your favorites so when you are ready to buy you don't...
I was aware that this species was a high humidity requiring one and understand that this type of cage is more or less 'required'. But, I also have seen many panther and veiled cages that are quite similar or pretty much the same in design, almost like it is a standard/typical way of building an...
beautiful animals and enclosure
I must say I love how in Europe they do everything that's really "not recommended" in the north americana 'way' of keeping chameleons, yet their animals seem to be thriving just as much as ours...
If someone from canada/usa were to post a pic here of a euro...
i've also seen mine do this several times right around that age, scared the hell out of me. He was just kinda 'thrusting' it around in mid air as you described.
Now that I think about it at that age his tail bulge really looked too big for his body size and I was really worried about a...
I was also able to catch this as well, was very cool to watch. Your facilities seem to be very well equipped! I too was hoping for something a bit longer, thinking they were going to elaborate on other rarer species and different topics but the focus was really on the tongue mechanism and...
well for some reason exo terra.com is down, but as far as I can remember, the sun glo neodymium bulbs are simply 'daylight' coloured basking bulbs, and do not give off any uvb. The only basking type bulbs from exo terra that do produce uvb are the solar glo's which I think are mercury vapour and...
wow nice gash, that's gonna leave a nice scar
well that sure clears up all those 'do chams bite?, does it hurt?' type threads lol, and something tells me people will be linking to this thread everytime another question like that does come up
huh weird I had the total opposite experience lol, had a few flower buds just sitting there doing nothing while inside, brought them out for some sun and they flowered. I got all happy and was like yeah now the plant/tree actually looks like something worth my 20 bucks, next morning the flowers...
nice, you got quite a few nozzles, are they all for chams or are some of them reserved for your plants/other things? I agree the nozzles are awesome, I got to see them in person last sunday at an expo and they are very sleek and compact, hesitated to buy a setup right there to save on the...
There's always hibiscus but unless your cage is super bright and well light I don't know if they'll bloom much. (pretty sure they need direct sunlight) and if they do bloom chances are your veiled will probably eat some of the flowers
you can always try orchids as well
niiice (animals and pictures!) i especially like the one with the nosy be(?) in the grass, the contrasting blue and green make a wicked photo
so where did you end up buying it? total cost? have fun with your new toy ;D
I'd say nevermind the ice cubes.. I don't think that will help with humidity much and a drop of ice water would also be a pretty shocking temperature to the chameleon if he/she were to get struck by one. Look into adding live plants to the cage if you don't have any already, and add more if you...
slightly off topic question here, stephen, did you buy your mist king stuff at the expo near toronto? if so, hope you don't mind me asking what kind of price you paid and for what kit etc. I just received an email with the final vendor list for the kemptville show near ottawa and noticed mist...
