    Chameleon at an animal shelter

Look at the change in this young man! Though I think he's actually an older fellow. I spent over $300 at Petco today, mostly light fixtures and UV bulbs, though they were selling some tropical roaches off cheap, the savannah monitors really loved them! There's no drainage on the cham...

    My cat

If I can find a runaway tortoise through the power of fliers, there's an excellent chance you'll find your kitty! Check with your local police force too, sometimes they get a call.

    Pathos help

Woolly aphids are tricky bugs. In June we had do many flying in our back yard I had snowpocalypse flashbacks.

    Pathos help

They had woolly aphids! Mine has the same, I tried everything to get rid of them but had to throw away the pothos in the end. I bought a new one and its thriving! Are there any other live plants in the enclosure? Check them too, but you should be fine just to get a new one.

    Chameleon cantina drinking fountain

It looks like an improvement on rock waterfalls, but still has the same problems with bacteria growth, so you would need to clean it and change the water every day. Plus you'd still need the enclosure to be misted a couple of times a day, it's the most effective way to get the humidity where it...

    Tree

I second the ficus advice. I got a lovely 3ft one with braided stems from Home Depot. I have a grow light and obviously it's misted twice a day, but literally every single leaf fell off. It took a couple of months to get its mojo back, but now I'm having to prune it because it's blocking light...

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

I haven't been able to go back and see him after my initial visit yet. They have me down for Mondays and Tuesdays, but I don't officially start until tomorrow morning. I've had some incredibly generous donations from our wonderful board members, not heard back from Petco yet, but I'm going to...

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

I knew I could rely on you! They aren't adoptable yet, or even able to be fostered, there are ongoing legal issues. Plus I'm pretty sure that once that is all sorted they're all going to have to come live with me because nobody else is good enough [emoji6]

    My cat

He may have got shut in somewhere? We have a feral cat living under our porch steps. I hadn't seen her for a couple of months, then ran into a neighbour who told me there was a feral cat in her basement! She'd been feeding her but the cat was too skittish to leave. She's now back under our porch...

I might win the crowd sympathy vote.

I'll fight you for them? You'll probably win, but I'll try.

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

Aww! You guys are the best! Dubias would be great, I have some but they're all really small.

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

All the reptiles are in one small room, but no other animals. The staff said he's generally fairly chilled out. Sometimes he gapes when he's being cleaned out, but not always. He seemed calm when I saw him. I don't think the room gets much traffic.

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

Anyone else able to add anything? I'm worried about him being so dark, is that because he's cold or just because he's skinny and miserable? I didn't take my temp gun so didn't check him. Space is limited in the room where they have the reptiles, do you think a CFL bulb would be okay for now or...

    Chameleons can SWIM? YES!

I think people are reacting strongly because they are worried that you might do it on a regular basis if we tell you that it's interesting to see how a chameleon swims. It's clear that English is not your first language, there might be things you misunderstand in messages. Maybe people will...

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

Good plan, thank you! I've just contacted Petco to see if they are able to donate equiment, food, or veterinary care. He was part of a large reptile seizure, so the shelter is struggling.

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

I don't think they do get reptiles very often, I'm so impressed with the staff that they've really stepped up. I've suggested roaches as a way to raise non-stinky feeders, though there are challenges to feeding fast nocturnal hiders that bouncy crickets don't have!

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

That would be so wonderful, MamatoElvis! I order horns from time to time for my guys but don't have any to hand at the mo. They have other reptiles in a similar state, only one needs urgent medical attention, the shelter has no reptile vet so I've managed to talk mine into seeing the poor...

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

It may be possible for me to foster him at home, but it's a long shot at the moment. I'm due to go in Mondays and Tuesdays, another reptile guy goes in Saturdays. The full time staff are wonderful and will do whatever needs to be done. So the plan is: Get him some proper UV Get him a misting...

    Chameleon at an animal shelter

Ooh that's a good plan, think they've just got CFL coils, but I can probably get him a proper tube and hood.
