Perfect! Gods, I haven't heard those words in YEARS! :D But, you're a little off. "All the birds sing words, and the flowers croon"
That little Conure is totally cute!! I love Suns... A very pretty bird you have there.
Ok, I'm going to butt in here with a related question: Where is the best (read cheapest but still good) place to buy a 24" FIXTURE for the UV tube?? Lowes and such used to have them, but stopped carrying ones for a T8 bulb since people seem to want 'slimmer' fixtures for closets now. :rolleyes...
Hot Glue. It's cheap, non-toxic, easy to use, waterproof, and clear. :) I used it recently on my corn snake cage system, and also am using it to seal the floor of my new cham cage.
I got the idea off a DIY Cham cage site... can't remember which one though.
I can tell you, there really isn't much difference between those 'special' reptile bulbs and a normal house bulb. The only thing would be the coating that they CLAIM is full spectrum...but all it really does is change the color effects in the enclosure. The only reason I use them at all (I use...
:) I get at least one email a week, sometimes more, from folks who got my name and email from friends who are asking me to take in their unwanted/uncared for/can't-keep-anymore reptiles. Mostly it's snakes, since that's my specialty, but I've gotten offers of tortoises, iguanas, toads, turtles...
Awww!!! Cuteness overload!
I adore hedgehogs. Got to care for four of them while working at the zooand someday might own one...when we have a lot more room. :) (15 snakes, a skink, and a cham take up a lot of space in a 2 bdrm apt)
But my BF also loves hedgies, and we already know what we...
Wow... That one is a sibling to the one I'm getting??? Oh man, I can't wait!!
And yes, I'm getting my new Cham from TikiTiki and he's of this family. :D I just have to finish making the cage and I can get him shipped over!
Juli - That is one gorgeous boy!
Roaches... well...
He's from Mexico, that's all I have to say. Heck, I was trapped in ElPaso for the longest time and don't much like roaches either. :) When you find 4" long ones in the bathroom...that kinda sets you up for not liking them. The only roaches I like are Hissers, and that's...
I do reside in Denver, Colorado. :D
Born in California, lived most of my young life in Seattle WA (:D), trapped for 18 years in ElPaso TX () and now live fairly happily here in Denver. :)
Back when I used to breed crickets and keep many worms, I used glass tanks and plastic critter keepers for the crix and plastic organizer drawers for the worms - the set of three 8x11 ones. :) You just add a layer of the food/bedding mix of choice and worms and you're good to go.
Now, since...
:) Wow...people who had/have more animals than I once did.
Previously owned and now gone:
7 cats - Misty, Gizmo, Marshmallow, Pumpkin, Harlequin, Ophelia, Tangerine.
1 Shepard/Husky mix - Bear
2 parakeets
3 fish tanks with giant feeder goldies, a Betta (Alpha), and various barbs.
1...
That looks like Hardware cloth! Is that stuff alright to use with Chams? I have a ton of it, since I make my own rodent tubs, in 1/4" square size, but I thought it was too rough...that you shouldn't use metal wire mesh on chameleon cages.
If I'm wrong, then great! That cage of yours looks...
Ah. Thanks. :)
I would get an LLL cage...but I can't really afford it right now, what with shipping costs. I was looking at screameleons complete kits...but woh, those prices are way too high! Even the Medium LLL cage is $50...without shipping. The most I could spend on the cage is $50 TOTAL...
Ok, I want to build my own cham cage(s) and, after much reading, have seen that aluminum screen seems much better to use than window screen.
Now, my question is: what type of aluminum screen do these cages use and where would be the best place to get some? I go to Lowes regularly and looked...
Thanks for the welcome. :)
We're looking to get a 3-5 month old male Veiled cham. I would want something older/bigger...but I only have about $100 total to spend on the cham himself.
I will NOT be getting him until everything is fully set up and running well. I learned that lesson with my...
I'm new to the cham world, but not to herps. :) I am also very handy and prefer to build my own enclosures whenever possible.
To this end, I have been thinking up various ways to build a good veiled enclosure and believe I have a good idea: Modular Wire Cubes.
Those great 14" square wire...
Hello all! I am Adriana, also known as Darcy, also known as Argentra. I frequent BP.net, as I own 15 snakes, and recently decided that I and my BF are finally ready to try owning a chameleon!
I've always loved chams, but was never confident enough of my herp keeping skills to own one. Now...
