    So tired of these threads..

I'll try and get hooked up with some local humane societies and attempt to get petsmart charged with animal abuse. It is completely and totally unacceptable. I won't stand by and let it happen.

Yes, but at least they want to change things for the better. Petsmart won't do anything.

    Petsmart: I've had enough

I don't know who to call. Maybe I could get animal control to confiscate abused animals.

    So tired of these threads..

https://www.chameleonforums.com/petsmart-ive-had-enough-80974/ I just posted that today. We need to take action. Get something circulating. I want to RUIN them.

    Water dripping on Cham!!

Misting doesn't give them respiratory infections..... Improper ventilation and stagnant air does. If you have a screen cage you'll be fine. (Or an exo-terra/zoo med.)

    Petsmart: I've had enough

Yesterday I was in petsmart for supplies (unfortunately.) They have a male jacksons chameleon in a completely inadequate enclosure, complete with water bowl and improper supplementation. I talked to the store manager and got nowhere since she said that they do everything properly for the animal...

    panther vs. veild?

I'm so sorry to hear about that. :( Poor Fawn. You did everything you could. I strongly suggest a male (if it's an egg laying species) for a first chameleon.

    panther vs. veild?

Sometimes it's just out of your power. I know of at least one case of eggbinding that was discussed on these forums in which the owner did everything they could and it just wasn't meant to be.... It can happen. Females are great, but they don't live as long and are more challenging than...

    what about senegal chameleons?

Senegals, Jacksons, Veilds, and Panthers (If you have the moo-lah) all come to mind when thinking of great starters. Veiled and panthers are probably the easiest of those, but it's not to say the others are difficult.

    Are veild chameleons aggressive?

O.O I really hope my Pepito doesn't do this. He's a Florida WC, and i'm guessing he's about 8 months.... I'll just sit in a corner and cry if he pulls that on me.

Well I'm impressed. You know your stuff. Hehe, definitely get your cham. And LLL is GREAT, but contact them first to ask if they can sex your chameleon. For your cage, I'd go to www.diycages.com Shipping is included in the pricing too. If you want, for a baby cage use a reptarium as...

I wouldn't study the behavior of a Pet-Co chameleon unless you're studying disease, mbd and starvation.... DON'T buy a pet store chameleon! And DON'T buy a baby! Start with one that's a few months, or you'll have a heck of a time finding food for it. I say no younger than four months. I...

Yesyesyesyes, oh yeah, yes! I agree, and you're way better with metaphors than me. :o I don't think experience gives a false sense of security as long as you recognize the MAJOR differences between chams and pretty much everything else.

    Eating sand!!

I thought we were talking about a female, lol. :P Maybe he's just..... dumb. :D Nah, but keep an eye on him and keep us posted if you take him to the vet/results.

Does my 4 month old panther look hydrated?

Looks good to me. Nice full eye turrets. You can never be too careful, though. :) BEAUTIFUL for 4 months!

    Eating sand!!

Perhaps only allow the bucket during supervised hours... Or switch your medium to something less enticing. Sand can be abrasive while digging too.
