I guess the biggest question would be should I get him to a vet or will this kind of infection heal itself??? The only thing that I am doing is flushing w/saline.

That would be my first guess! My cham did the same thing. He was all over the cage till he got all of the skin off. Then again he also did that one night after I fed him a late dinner.
