Obviously you did not do you homework before you invested in a cham. Chams are NOT desert creatures and you should NOT have sand OR ANY OTHER SUBSTRATE in the enclosure besides paper towels or newspaper. You also need to get him out of that aquarium and get him in an ALL SCREEN cage. Most, if...
Beardies are very cool. They are very active. Our baby runs around every morning chasing crickets. As long as they have the right set up they will be very active and very happy. They are also content to be held and sit on you. I would not suggest getting one from PetSmart, we purchased ours...
Here's a pic of mine as I explained this morning. It's not the most ideal setup compared to some I've seen, but it works for me and was cheap. You'll notice that the bottom of the cage is screen also. When I mist, it drips through into the plastic tubunder the cage then IU just pull it out...
Binary....if you are looking for a rep to handle, and likes to be handled, you should consider a bearded dragon. We have one and they are incredibly social little creatures that love to interact with people. Chams are truly hands off. Here's a pic of my boy that I took this evening.
On the subject of lights/balists....has anyone used or considered using Ice Cap 660 VHO? These are typically used for reef aquariums. What would be the best spectrum and wattage of bulbs to use on a 3ft wide cage? My husband use to maintain a reef aquarium so I already have the balist. Has...
My hubby pulled the plastic bottom off ours and put a screen bottom on it. Then I purchased a plastic storage tub (like an under-the-bed type storage box) and put that under the cage to catch the drips. Guess I should add that my cage is sitting on a stand with several adjustable shelves (Home...
Chams should be fairly active during the day, whether it's hunting for food, hanging out under their basking spot, or just cruising through the branches checking things out. Chams, like humans, do most if not all of their sleeping at night.
I also use hot water in a pump up sprayer. I bought a half gallon pesticide sprayer at Home Depot. Just fill it with hot water, pump it up and give them a good soaking mist for about 10 - 15 minutes. My guy doesn't like it at first, but he comes around and eventually hangs upside down on the...
Zerah - I have to say that is the most FREAKING incredible setup I've ever seen. You mention that you have different breeds in there with each other? How's that working out so far? I guess with a habitat that size they have plenty of room to setup their own territory. You should consider...
You can buy skinny wire ties that should fit fine through the screen. I wouldn't just wedge the branches because you run a risk of them falling while the cham is on it and the cham could get hurt.
I don't feel qualified to offer advice about the eye, but I will offer advice about something else....the waterfall. You should remove it. Even though you are using chlorine drops those waterfalls are breeding ground for bacteria that can cause tons of problems for your baby. So I would...
Hi Carl, welcome to the forums. My first suggestion would be to get the bark and moss out of the vivarium. The best substrate for a cham is NO substrate. You run a risk of him shooting for food and ingesting moss or bark which will ultimately kill him/her. A question...what size crickets are...
Looks great Chris. Another suggestion would be to get yourself some sticks/branches or even bend-a-vine and use zip ties to secure it to the screen. Give him some places to climb other than the plant.
Sounds good. I would trust LLLreptile. I was recently at the MARS show in Timonium MD and LLL was there. I got a chance to see and meet them in person as well as Screameleons. I think my next one will be from Kammerflage though. They have the most impressive selection and colorations. Best...
I attempted phoenix worms...they are very small and VERY wiggly. I gave up on them as they are more of a hassle for a bigger cham....not much more than a tease of a snack especially if you want to free feed. You would probably have good luck with cup feed them. I would definitely mix up the...
