Actually, it was 74 votes, which is a substantial number when comparing to other months. Great to hear about maybe some changes coming to draw more participation.
@MikeT307 No doubt there are plenty who don't like my backgrounds, but you are the first that have told me so. Most people like this sky background, being that it doesn't look all that "artificial". If you don't like this one then you more than likely don't like any of my work, because this...
@OldChamKeeper I have a very large roll of white photography background paper. I cut a 5 foot square piece off and haphazardly emptied a can of blue spray paint on it. That was hung on the back wall with a flash hitting from above and the chameleon on the grapevine branch was in the middle of...
Well, with a title like that it was impossible for me not to click on it.:) They're all beautiful animals and good pictures. I bought and raised snails for awhile a couple of years ago just for my panthers and I never could get either of them to try one.
Thanks, everybody. Glad you like it. I've always wanted to get a shot like this, but never had a chameleon that would do it until now and there's no hesitation at all with her. Now I just have to think of some ideas for shoots using my L3-L5 Chinese mantises with a tongue hitting them before...
This little girl loves hornworms more than I've ever seen any animal love any one type of food more than anything else. I also obviously have a well trained dog to do this without any kind of risk ever entering my mind. He's done this kind of thing enough that he knows after remaining completely...
Thanks all.
Canon 7D. Lens is the 28-135mm. I like the results from the 100mm macro better, but it's a lot easier using a zoom lens for situations like this when I need to zoom in quickly to capture a closeup of them eating. I still had to move my tripod in closer for the second pic.
Thanks Bob. So I guess Dillian is doing well? That's what I named the Brady you got.:) He has a pretty fast tongue too, but these carpets are just crazy fast. I guess that's why you never see good tongue shots of them.
Sold my Bradypodion and got a pair of carpets last week. Took the girl out for a photoshoot today. I've had 4 mantis ooths hatch in the last few days, so plenty of trial and error opportunities. Good thing. Wow...10 times harder than getting the tongue shot from a panther.
Well, that's great to know. Thank you very much. No kidding on the coffee table book. I'm really thinking more and more that I need to do that. The pictures just keep piling up. Now I'm thinking I may should do some other species to mix it up. Looking at carpets now.
